CDI New Yarmouth Jamaica (Bottled for Denmark) 2005

Blind, more than one taster mistook this New Yarmouth for a top Hampden — that's the level of funk. Glue, solvent and overripe banana hit first, then pineapple, marzipan and cookie dough settle in. At 65.2% it's big, oily and creamy, with a finish that goes dry and tannic. Several call it the best CDI New Yarmouth they've had.

The community says
  • Massive fruity funk
  • Oily, creamy texture
  • Very long finish

sensational New Yarmouth 2005. cookie dough, very fresh with menthol and allspice, creamy, harmonious and just more cookie dough and spice than the Cave Guildive which I just find cooler. and overall a bit more harmonious and easy to drink thanks to almost 3% less alcohol. simply insanely good stuff!

Great !!! NY at its best, at least for me. Great fruit, lots of ester, marzipan and an incredible mouthfeel. Together with the SBS 2005 my personal reference when it comes to New Yarmouth (2005). Unfortunately really hard to get at a reasonable price.

Tasted after a still unbottled Savana (surprise, surprise Belgium), I still had a blast.

8,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is very intense with esters, glue, overripe tropical fruits like banana, pineapple and citrus fruits, funky, woody with some spice and marzipan, cookie dough and biscuits. On aeration, the molasses is fresh, slightly vegetal, the presence of solvents is strong. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is intense, funky, but creamy with esters, glue, slightly roasted wood notes like pastry, caramel, cookie dough, spicy with allspice, salty and fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana, pineapple and citrus fruits, when aired well, also red fruits and papaya. It quickly becomes dry and astringent, but buttery and the molasses vegetal. 8,7:The finish is long, intense, less round as the palate, dry and tannic, fruity and funky, the wood is roasted, smoky, spicy, the molasses vegetal and flowery. Edit:23.1.26, oxidation helps, an upgrade for 0,2

I love this one. A lot of bang right off the bat and once rested you get a very fruity rum on the nose. The esters, glue and and menthol is there and it's kind of intense on a very nice way. The funk is there and a wonderful oily feel on the palate.

Great representative of the 05NY. Lots of tropical and esters. Alongside a mix of lacquer and glue. Hold and spices stay in the background. Finish lasts forever. Alcohol could not be better integrated.

22-03-2025 - Rate 9.1 The best CDI New Yarmouth. 02-08-2026 - Rate 8.9 This used to be my favorit of the CDI New Yarmouth’s. But this time I would prefere the 2018 13 years 64.1% over this one. They get the same ratings. Both a bit lower then I used to give them. I like the 94’s better now.

Powerful New Yarmouth with intense ester and tropical fruit notes. On the palate, pineapple, banana, and a fine spice appear, accompanied by a creamy texture. The aromas are complex and harmoniously integrated, giving the rum depth and character. A successful bottling.

24th day of the Christmas calendar. Blind! For me it was typical Hampden and a really great one... but then it was a NY ... Nose: a bit biting at first. Then come fine esters, fine glue, fermented pineapple and very ripe banana, the whole deposited with a light vinegar note. Totally round. Palate: quite astringent at the beginning. Then the fine esters. Sweetish acidity, like flambéed, grilled pineapple. Almost creamy and buttery. Almond and a little aniseed at the back. Also very round on the palate. A totally good NY and a worthy end to the Christmas calendar!!!

Small 2005 New Yarmouth Cross Tasting - November 2025: Right after pouring, the notes of glue and solvent were almost the only things I perceived. After a while in the glass, they recede into the background and then pineapple, banana, marzipan, pleasant sweetness, and maturity come through. Stronger and even more than the other three. Today I liked it best.

This is rum for the more serious enthusiast. It's not for everyone, miles away from Appleton 21 or Joy. Hugely funky, medicinal yet fresh and fruity. I really hope Florent has a lot more casks of this rum as it could becomes CDI's signature....... Stunning.

Even more aromatic than the comparative bottling of CDI. Spicier and slightly less sweet in taste. Allspice and pepper come to the fore very present next to the cookie dough and the fruit basket. A fantastic bottling!
