Blindverkostung: ich rieche Honig, verschiedene Kräuter, frisches Zuckerrohr und Eiche. Schwer und aromatisch – ein Brite mit leichter französischer Verwandtschaft und Ähnlichkeit zu den Bellevues aus 1998. Im Hintergrund sind auch rote Früchte zu erkennen – allen voran Kirscharomen. Alkohol ist in der Nase merklich wahrzunehmen – das wird hoffentlich noch interessant! Am Gaumen dann direkt die Ernüchterung: leider nur Trinkstärke, wahrscheinlich 46% oder etwas darüber. Leichte Süße (Honig) gepaart mit einer pfeffrigen Note und den roten Früchten aus der Nase gehen in einen mittellangen Abgang von Leder, Zuckerrohr und Kräutern über. Leider nur ein guter Rum. „Leider“, da dieser Rum ein großartiger Rum hätte sein können, wenn man ihn nicht auf Trinkstärkte hätte verdünnt. Verlust von Körper und Intensität sind merkbar, wenn man andere Abfüllungen in Fassstärke aus diesem Jahrgang kennt – schade. Dieser Rum sollte 1999 in der kleinen John Dore Pot Still auf St. Lucia gebrannt worden sein und durfte wahrscheinlich 10-14 Jahre reifen. 80 Punkte
