8,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is a great Trinidadian rum. The rum is all fruity, just a bit vegetal, with sweet notes of plum, pear and quince jam.Over time, it thickens with beeswax and cane. There's pleasant smokiness, tarry notes with gourmand chocolate. Aeration brings out toasty woodiness, again ripe, stewed fruit come around, as banana, mango, some passion fruit and tangerine, other citrus, very tasty. Spices and licorice molasses, some roasted palate with coffee, caramelized burnt sugar arise when rum is well rested. Heavy industrial notes are gone now, with some tannins left. 8,8:The attack on the palate is with molasses and caramel and strong, ripe fruits and is citrusy. The Trinidadian character is present but rounded, the molasses is both woody and licorice-like. The palate is complex with the vegetal side added. The rum then melts into fruit jam, the quince blending well with the slightly burnt, metallic and smoky side with minimal bitterness. 8,6:The finish is balanced, Trinidadian character is omnipresent until the end of the tasting... 👌😋

Conclusion: fancy character, for me coherent composition of tropical fruit sweetness and the typical trinidad notes such as rubber and spices. Slightly something light, yet absolute purchase recommendation.

Rumfest 2023 tasting so notes were brief This was a great suprise and a move away from the usual dosed rums

Overall it’s quite sweet and should have been even better if the ABV had been a little higher, but I still think it’s one of the better ones and a very interesting, complex and intense rum from Angostura. Both the nose and the palate is very fruity with scents and flavors of banana, citrus, grapefruit and prunes together with some vanilla and toffee.

In terms of smell, the rum is rather restrained and closed. He is hardly to be clearly defined. In the mouth clearly dominates a spicy woody note with a slight smoky touch. The finish can almost be described as long-lasting! A rum to enjoy, but not everybodys Darling! I like it very much!

Good round rum, something artificial resonates with ok but it is a mass product let's not fool ourselves.

Onwards in my quest to get to know more of all the distillers! This one is a more standard rum, targeting the premium consumer market, and better than the longer aged 1824 in my opinion. Smelling I get some fruit, a sour note geared towards apple, and slightly herbal notes. On the palate the fruit seems to take a vacation and is more or less absent with the exception of some orange peel, and I get woody notes along again with some herbs and dry cocoa. It seems to be also a bit watery in the mouth at first, but then gets some more power the longer it is allowed to linger on the tongue, and brings some really dark caramel with it. Overall OK, but nothing special. I have yet to find a rum from Trinidad that I really like.

Nase viel Holz, plus der typischen Angosturanote; Zunge viel Würze, bissel Vanille, Karamell, starke Whiskyfassnoten, schöner Abgang

From a tasting a little more than a year ago. The nose has a sweetness and hints of dried fruits, oak and other fruits. In the notes I got sweet hints of toffee, dried fruits and a bit of oak. A good balanced rum

Too weak, but the cherry taste is great! ... Destilerka TDL produkuje krasne jemne matove rumy. Bohuzel ne vzdy je mata hlavni zastupce v chuti, ale stopu po ni v TDL rumech najdete vzdycky. Jeden z rumu, ktery musite v zivote ochutnat, abyste meli kompletni prehled o chutich z rumoveho sveta. Zadna jina destilerka neprodokuje rumy s matovou chuti.

Retasting and it did lose some points 😊 ------- This one concludes this week's tastings. Angostura has done it again. Another great rum and this one is a tad better than their 12 year old. This one was blended by John George's and he did a really good job. After blending it matured for 15 years in oak and you can taste that oak. A fruity well balanced rum with a long and full bodied finish.

This rum is oily in the glass and has a beautiful color. The rum is very complex. The nose is very lush and intense. The taste is bitter, coupled with a slight sweetness and somewhat reminiscent of rubber. The finish is long and intense with an earthy note. This rum is something for connoisseurs, can be drunk as an aperitif or digestive. My taste has not met this rum. But is not bad.

Very easy to like, massively sweet, little bit of tropical-overripe-funk. Too smooth and nice, too straightforward. Very directly sugary, as in tastes like sugar juice.
