Sip it neat and you get a mild, easy Foursquare: vanilla, caramel, a little honey and oak with a bourbon-ish nose. A few tasters catch orange, strawberry or chocolate. The recurring gripe is that 46% still drinks a touch thin and watery, so several people happily pour it into cola or an Old Fashioned instead. Reads gently sweet despite no added sugar.

This rum died because it was watered down far too much. In my opinion the ABV should have been far higher. Fruity and sweet with light wood and roasted notes. The empty glass is nice and has a smoky and light leather note.

A good rum with a good price-performance ratio. Unsweetened. It smells well of spices and alcohol. Taste: fruity, round. Pleasant finish. I don't think it's been watered down too much. But of course not quite as strong, so suitable for beginners. Update: I still like it, unfortunately it runs out super quickly.

Surprisingly sweet on the palate for an unsweetened rum. Goes down well and is definitely usable for a cocktail or a casual drinking evening in a friendly group, but unfortunately it's also a bit thin and has a slightly musty wood aroma in the quite restrained nose, which I don't really like. Pleasant to drink, but Foursquare has much better stuff.

On The Rocks: On the nose mild fruit and apple with mild alcohol. Taste reveals a strong fruit and apple flavour with moderate spice. Finish is medium with continue fruit and spice fading away. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose mild sweetness and very mild fruit. Taste is smooth and enjoyable with mild fruit and sweetness. Finish is short with the taste just fading away.

A good find Barbados goodness with the notes of a very young FS rum . Oak and chocolate present with a slight orange after taste which moves it higher in rating .

Second tasting of this rum because I think this rum might actually be better than I initially rated it. For a Barbados rum, very weak vanilla, caramel, and coconut notes are noticeable. I have a lot of barrel strength but unfortunately nothing else that I expect from a Barbados rum; the vanilla comes out best. Here too you taste a subtle sweetness, but the product is not sweetened. Tastes slightly alcoholic and quite thin. There are far better Barbados rums for the money.

Read full review ›The rum has a medium-long finish, beautifully warming. After the third, fourth sip I could say the rum is gentle, balanced. It doesn't feel aggressive – attacking, but it's not bland either as it seemed to me at first acquaintance. Flavor-wise I can't get rid of the bourbon impression from the nose. Luckily for me, vanilla doesn't dominate. Rather you can feel the quality 8 years spent in the cask – that is wood and hints of caramel. During tasting you can also feel fruity notes, but I didn't find many. The bottle content from the Foursquare distillery definitely didn't disappoint. It's an easily drinkable Barbados rum. I could imagine it in an autumn-winter Old Fashioned cocktail. Cane sugar syrup would boost the caramel flavor, angostura nicely complemented the wood tannins and orange peel elevated the hidden fruity notes.
