Hampden Rum Fire Velvet Overproof
Splash a few ml into a Mai Tai or Blue Hawaii and it lifts the whole drink; most people mix it rather than sip it. This is Hampden's white overproof, so expect banana, green apple, pineapple and a whiff of glue — but one taster called it a "doable entry level" high-ester Jamaican, since it's softer and less pungent than the funkier bottles.

It tastes very much like the Rum Fire so I believe it’s probably the same rum in another bottle. This bottling was for the European market I’ve heard. The finish is rather long. Overall it’s funky, potent, complex and powerful without being too pungent.

A sweetish aroma, alcoholic, glue.The taste is sweetish, slightly alcoholic burning, but pleasant at the same time. The finish is strong and long warming persistent.

Wieder ein tolles Schmankerl für die Klebstoffschnüffler unter uns. Das Hause Hampden hat hier wirklich einen weichen Rum herausgebracht, der zwar merklich die Gene der Rum Fire Familie hat, jedoch nicht mit einem 16to Meißelbagger durch die Vordertür prescht ohne überhaupt zu versuchen zu klopfen oder zu klingeln. Macht sich hervorragend in nem Blue Hawaii Mai Tai :-)

Color:ColorlessSmell:Little intense with surprisingly subtle ester aromas.Instead herbaceous, faintly sweet, sugar cane.Reminds me more of Aguardente than rum.After some time then comes Patex smell, some solvent and fruit ester.Taste:Slightly sweet, yet surprisingly creamy, soft and mild despite the 63%. This must be due to the "Triple Distilled".Tastes clearly of Aguardente.Herbal brew and also surprisingly licorice flavors (although the never in life has seen wood).Finish:Long, spicy, dry and herbal.Minimal esters come upI would not have recognized in life as Hampden.Conclusion:As I have read a very good rum to mix. Rather not recommended to drink neat.

At the moment, samples have appeared again and again in my cupboard.... No idea who always orders them;-) so also this clear overproof with 63 revolutions. In the nose you have immediately the full parade ester. This one I have learned to appreciate more and more over the last few months. Likes such a thing really. Also a nice apple note.The taste is very herbal. Again, the estersache plays neatly with.In the reverberation hit the 63 percent pure and you notice that the rum is heavier than he first seems. Obviously with the percentage this is not meant to be shipped but is a Jamaican cocktail influence that is amazing .... Very versatile but never lets you forget about it ..
