Most helpful positive review
Slightly bitter and properly spicy. Not a rum for the sober palate. On the contrary, I find this rum almost perfect as an after-dinner digestive. Its powerful overall combination is a wonderful match for the palate, even after a spicy meal. Wood, dried fruit, subtle sweetness, mineral, properly roasted. Pear paired with leather and mocha notes, cedar wood and floral honey.

In the nose still nice fruity notes, dominate on the palate and in the finish a lot of roasted notes of old mocha, leather and some spice! Actually my thing, but in this case a little too one-sided for me

The nose on RX2711 is brighter fruitier, otherwise both are rather similarly reserved. RX2711 has more light fruits, the alcohol is moderately well integrated. Sharp on the finish. I like RX6221 much better. Here the alcohol is well integrated, with a distinct wood note and more herbs. Overall much more complex. On the finish like its brother grassy. Had both much better in memory. 80 pts & 83 pts.

In direct comparison with Karukera Japoniani. RX6221 is relatively bitter, woody, roasted notes, some spice, a bit of candied fruit. I don't find it bad, but the Japoniani is on another level. Clearly more spice notes, a bit nutty, grassy, nice wood notes. Alcohol well integrated. Both rums rather dry. Overall Japoniani much better balanced and more complex.

Nice smooth Agricole with many rounded aromas and less of the typical Agricole markers. Certainly floral, but lots of fruit, especially on the rather shy nose, and always with caramel/honey, spice, and sometimes hints of chocolate.

So far I haven't really warmed up to Agricole, so it was time for a little cross-tasting again. 1. RX7238 (Neisson Full Proof): Overall more on the fresh/fruity side. Alcohol very well integrated -> 8.5/10. 2. RX10968 (St. James V&B): I especially like the nose here with the subtle glue note, tropical and dried fruits. On the palate then clearly spicier/roastier and slightly bitter -> 8.6/10. 3. (RX1146) La Mauny: Quite sweet on the nose, with lots of caramel, roasted nuts and vanilla. On the palate initially a floral note, then spices and wood dominate -> 8.5/10. 4. RX2216 (Kill Devil Bellevue 1998): On the nose mint, chocolate and some smoke. On the palate also chocolate and mint, plus wood, caramel, some tropical fruits and leather. This was my favorite in taste. -> 8.7/10. 5. RX6221 (Karukera Velier 70th): For me the most "agricole" on the nose. Unlike the other representatives in the tasting, I can tell right away on the nose that it is an Agricole. Typical fresh, grassy notes, sugarcane and unfortunately also a slightly musty note I detect. Also on the palate for me quite floral/flowery/grassy. -> 7.9/10

On the nose dried fruits (dates, plums) and others (especially pears, but also something tropical), leather, burnt sugar, tobacco and wood. Very interesting! On the palate it is warm, honeyed, enveloping with dates, salted caramel, floral, slight toast, leather, tobacco, violet, peppery with a fairly persistent finish. A very good and fascinating Guadeloupean drink, thanks to Dr.Django. The rating oscillates between 8.7 and 8.8

Solid Karukera, which already means a high level. Again a successful blend of wood, spice, and mild sweetness paired with subtle fruit notes – here with slightly stronger accents on the spiciness, which is certainly also due to the somewhat higher alcohol content. Not my favorite Karukera, but undoubtedly an excellent rum.

Color: Old gold Nose: Reservedly sweet with weak vegetal aromas. Overall less fresh and sweet than Cask No. 26. Smells fruity of pineapple, pear and cooked banana. Also oak wood and honey. Taste: Very strong and little sweet at the start. On swallowing spicy-sharp, intense with lots of honey as well as candied fruits, caramel and tobacco. Finish: Honey, nicely spicy, strong and long. Dry-woody in the aftertaste. Conclusion: Great rum, roughly on the same level as sister cask No. 26. 89 points

Very good one. Grass, dried figs, a lot of spiciness on the nose. Then I got marc/grappa style notes, but light and delicate. Warming on the palate with medium spicy finish with wood, tobacco and some raisins.
