Vanilla, citrus and a whisper of honey on a light, woody frame — that's the nose, and most people quite like it. The trouble comes in the mouth: at 40% this Rockley-style Bajan reads watery and faint, with several tasters saying the reduction washes away what little was there. Tasted blind and I couldn't even place this rum. An almond liqueur for me. Very light. Very easy to drink. Also very surprising because very disorienting. Great discovery!

7,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is quite thin, with light wood and vanilla, pepper, nutmeg, weak esters and tropical, citrus fruits like pineapple, banana, lightly medicinal with rubber. On aeration, the wood is a bit roasted, smoky with caramel, marzipan, nuts, as the molasses brings honey, herbaceous, flowery and grassy tones, as apples arise. 7,4:On the palate, the attack is light, slightly dirty, alcoholic, medicinal with weak esters, rubber, sweet with honey, the wood is also slightly roasted, burnt/smoky with roasted nuts, crunchy bread, marzipan, later meaty, the molasses is flowery, as variety of faint fruits reveal themselves like citrus, tropical and yellow fruits. 7,1:The finish is rather short, diluted, thin, dry and slightly dirty and tannic, as faint palate notes linger on for a moment or two, quickly fading away... 14.01.2006 My first visit to Hong Kong and this was a very nice hotel, which also had a great Restaurant. Notes. Light in colour and profile. Woody with dried fruit and light coconut. Light/thin palate with a smoky touch. Short finish with vanilla and caramel.

Nose is not bad with honey, vanilla and sweetness alongside some fruits. It is not overwhelmingly intense but the expected notes are noticeable if a bit subdue overall. On the palate and particularly the finish, the reduction is more noticeable and very adverse to the experience unfortunately. Dispute some Rockley notes showing up, the bottling feels to thin with a very short and unpleasant finish.

Somehow just not good. Diluted. Citrus fruit. Behind that rather on the green side. On the nose rather medicinal. I think the calendar sample was completely sufficient here ;)

RumX Advent calendar day 14 Unfortunately tasted only afterwards. Since the 'competitor' from the past was in the weird calendar day 14, I let both compete against each other. They weren't far apart, but as a conclusion, neither convinced me.

Nose Fruity,honey some wood all rather restrained.... Palate very watery and weak .... some honey, mango oak .... unfortunately much too diluted.

I can hardly recognize the typical Rockley DNA of honey and smoke here, it tends more towards medicinal notes. On the palate then comes the strong dilution that washes away all flavor notes. Well, it was worth a try...

Not very sparkling because overall just too thin. Seems extremely diluted, not much profile left. Seems like the Caroni from the same bottler. Nothing bad but ultimately relatively unremarkable.

#24DaysOfRum2023 - Day 14 Extremely mild -not light(!)- on the nose. Very atypical blend of aromas that I would have never placed in Barbados. My blind guess would have been a smooth agricole of some sorts. Opens with honeydew melon, green tea and hints of wood polish before making way into wider fruity and barrel-oriented territory. Then it presents apples, lots of citrus and perhaps a tad of mango. All in combination with lighter sugars, marzipan and crème fraîche, and a hefty amount of wood spice. Very interesting. In the mouth my instinct tells me again that it’s not very Bajan at all, but unfortunately the drop is diluted into oblivion. I had to drink nearly the entire sample to pick up one or two aromas. In the end it’s simple syrup that has been laid on barrel. Additionally it’s overshadowed by a rather metallic taste. Very enjoyable nose, very disappointing taste. I should have poured the sample back into the vial and kept it to nose once in a while. Ah well…

For only 40% that's okay. Honey, smoke, wood. Unfortunately the fruit gets lost and I found the flavor profile somewhat annoying and unbalanced. Also a watery mouthfeel.
