Rubber, tar and a whiff of menthol up front — the classic Caroni petrol signature, wrapped here in caramel and a nutty almond edge. Underneath there's ripe mango and a faint smoke that keeps it elegant rather than brutal. At 70.4% you feel the proof, but tasters keep calling it well integrated, and the finish runs long and oily. A closed-distillery Trinidad heavy that lives up to its reputation.

Mentholy, fresh nose reminiscent of gin. I personally don't like it that much. The gin note disappears on the palate and a great creaminess and spiciness emerge. Overall, however, the negative impression of the gin nose prevails.

28.11.2017 Meeting up at a friend's house each one bringing a bottle. Pretty surprised that there were 3 Cadenhead's in the pot. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Fresh, wood, light roasted, light mint, pine, faint wood and tar, light nutts. Palate Oily, balanced, wood, light roasted, light floral, light rubber, cherry, light caramel, faint tar. Finish Long and warm, light rubber and tar, dried fruit, light floral. Extra note ABV pretty well integrated.

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing rum at the height of its fame, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to naval blends. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery ended production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is really a unique rum.

The bottle has just been opened 😍. On the first nose the markers are there but the 70% is not hidden either! On the nose: of course, it's a Heavy but very elegant. The classic hydrocarbons mix with subtle smoke, light white pepper, a bit hidden mango. On the palate you find the same, the mango is perfectly ripe, the length is endless. A magnificent chew. You can feel the % for sure. But it's excellent. Superb.
