One taster called this "the fruitiest of all" the Chairman's bottlings, and that tropical fruit-salad character runs right through it: blackberry, cherry, orange peel, tea leaves and tobacco, with a light glue note some read as almost Jamaican. Cask-strength but well-integrated, so bigger sips work. A few find it a touch bitter and a little metallic when the alcohol pushes forward.

A somewhat volatile, esterified, woody and fruity nose. A somewhat closed, iodized palate with something maritime, not very balanced. A splendid finish on orange. The best part of the rum. The empty glass is a bit disappointing with a slight vinegar note. A beautiful rum nonetheless.

Complex, elegant yet somewhat wild. Basically, I don't like estery rum, but this one tastes good. Great smell of bicycle inner tube filling the whole room. Gets better with every drink.

Very nice overall combo. Besides the fruits, I taste saffron, which I personally really like. Burnt blueberries. The alcohol could be a bit better integrated. Needs air to breathe. A little water works too, brings out even more fruit. Still quite wild for its age. But lots of complexity and umami.

Edit: tasted again because I found another sample, but unfortunately the rating stays the same. In my opinion, there are better Chairman’s bottlings. Franconian Tasting Gang Unlike its competitors, I find this one a bit too bitter.

24.10.2020 Lovely tasting arranged by one of my suppliers of rum. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Wood, tannins, fruity, pineapple, light chocolate, faint caramel, light floral, glue. Palate Intense, wood, tannins, fruits, pineapple, raisin, light chocolate, spice, light caramel, faint glue. Finish Very long and warm, wood, dried fruit, light chocolate, faint caramel, light apple. Extra note Need to rest for a good while before giving it a go.

The Chairman's comes across nicely fruity and spicy. On the nose, I find, besides dark fruits like blackberry and cherry, the sweet spice of tobacco and tea leaves. A bit of vanilla and anise is there too. Also something metallic can be found. It reminds me of a brandy. Full-bodied continues on the palate. The cherry from the nose now leans more towards sour cherry. Then it becomes salty bitter, the bitterness more from orange/mandarin peel. Yes, mandarin. But there is also something artificial again; plastic and metal. It is also spicy but more towards fresh leather and wood. On the finish, the spicy-sweet-bitter of black tea, chamomile, and a hint of mandarin. Goes steeply.

On the nose first dark fruits like blackberry, some fig and wood. Then it reminds me extremely of a childhood rum punch from back then, compact sweetness, some orange peel and very slight clove. On the palate first comes the sweetness that reminds me of gummy bears followed by orange peel, roasted aromas, clove and pine needles. Gradually the alcohol with a steely taste comes to the forefront which bothers me. Then dried orange peel, clove and vanilla candle scent remain on the palate. Maybe I have to try it again at Christmas time.

The fruitiest of all so far! I like it extremely well! Full blast of tropical fruit salad, hardly any wood, extremely easy drinking and mild and balanced. Awesome!

Very nice, relaxed representative of the Chairman series. All components are present in a nice balance, thanks to good alcohol integration and the slightly lower ABV it almost becomes an easy sipper, which is still superior in complexity to most other distilleries. Still a mystery to me why St. Lucia is not mentioned in the same breath as Hampden & Co.

On the nose initially comes almost a little Jamaica feeling on with glue and tr. fruit. On the palate, however, then unmistakably a rum from St. Lucia. Due to the well-integrated alcohol, larger sips are also possible.

Very very similar to Chairman's Reserve Toyal Mile (same key data) but here a bit more fruitiness on the finish and a bit more bitter.

Nose: Industrial, slightly dirty notes with tar, light ester hints, and spicy wood. Added to that are tropical fruits and a dark, heavy aroma. Overall clearly more intense and characterful than a classic Chairman’s Reserve.\n\nPalate: Spicy and strong, with tar, wood, and tropical fruit. The industrial note remains present but is not as massive as in Caroni. The rum feels concentrated and well-structured, without being overwhelmed by the cask.\n\nFinish: Long, warm, and spicy. In the aftertaste, wood and tropical fruit appear again; at the very end, a slight rubber or tire note comes in.\n\nConclusion: A very exciting Caroni alternative from Saint Lucia. Not quite on the level of a real Caroni, but with convincing industrial depth, nice spiciness, and a good cask profile. A rare and characterful bottling, of which I bought two right away due to the limited number of bottles.
