Great, typical 1997 Caroni nose. Powerful in relation to the alcohol content. Perfectly balanced. Beautiful mouthfeel, powerful and warm. Very nice, long finish. The prototype of an (excellent) 1997 Caroni. Everything there, no extras.

Very good, delicious, powerfull Caroni from 1997! Tar, Varnish, Bicycle tube in the foreground, followed from a nice woody note with some hints of roasted almonds. Sometimes also some fruity notes like banana, cherries and passion fruit comes through! The alcohol is integrated very well! Very dirty and delicious!🤤

Spirits Museum Tasting 29th of March 2025. A somewhat weak nose for a Caroni, a bit spicy too. But it’s true the bottle was opened for the occasion and the rum probably lacks oxidation. The entry on the palate is also a bit weak, then fortunately the aromas build up in intensity. The finish is also a bit weak. This rum didn’t convince me but perhaps it’s due to the lack of oxygenation.

This was a good day because two people decided to bring Caroni's. We never complain about people bringing Caroni to a tasting. The nose is also typical Caroni, though lighter than the previous one on the wood. Fruit and nutmeg follows the tar and rubber as well as a hint of chocolate. The chocolate is more obvious in the glass after an hour empty. The palate is well balanced and oily again with the typical tar and rubber. Wood and fruit then hits you followed by vanilla, caramel and chocolate. There is a hint of smoke in there as well. The finish is long and woody with tar, rubber and dried fruit.

a real revelation compared to the recently tasted whiskey Doris 97 Caroni. On the nose dirty notes, but not too aggressive, in between always a touch of dried fruit and caramel. On the palate workshop, motor oil, dark chocolate, burnt sugar. A nice smoky bacon note on the finish. Stands on par with the good 97 Bristol or S.B.S. bottlings for me. Best thanks to Vienna for the sample.

Alcohol is well integrated. Nice balance of dirty Caroni notes and fruity notes. Slight pleasant sweetness. Plus some wood. The finish is long with nice dirty notes. A nicely balanced bottling.

Cross-tasting 1997 Caronis from continental storage: Very rounded profile, typical HTR-Caroni notes, the dilution works very well. Gets a bit weaker on the chest in the finish, but overall very pleasant to drink.
