Unusually tame for a Caroni — that's the surprise almost every taster lands on. The heavy dilution to 44.4% trades the usual tar-and-rubber punch for a rounder, sweeter pour: milk chocolate, hazelnut, light oak, a little tar hanging in the background. Well add a lot of water and that's how you destroy a Caroni. Too far watered Dow in my mind so very light in all the flavours.

A pretty tame Caroni due to the dilution. Besides the typical Caroni markers, the rum shows hints of hazelnut liqueur. With the pleasant sweetness, it's also easy to drink for beginners – very smooth for a Caroni.

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Positive surprise - has virtually nothing in common with the other 1993 Caroni releases. Pleasant to drink, nice sweetness, only subtle bitter notes. If one is looking for proof that hardly anything beats the Velier Caroni selection, then for the Vintage 1993 here is a prime specimen.

What more is there to say here? Really awesome Caroni. I love this stuff, if only it were cheaper 😃 But otherwise, it has the typical Caroni notes like tar and rubber, really very tasty.

Glaube diese Caroni Abfüllung würde ich unter der Kategorie easy Sipper oder Einsteiger Caroni einordnen. Die Marker sind hier eher auf der fruchtigen süßen Seite als auf der dreckigen Seite. Durch den niedrigen ABV fehlt mir hier auch der gewisse Wumms. Trotzdem nicht schlecht.

A smooth Caroni. Much smoother than usual, allowing the milk chocolate, light oak wood, sweet and subtle notes to come to the fore much more. In the finish, the woody and Caroni notes come slightly more to the forefront. Due to the alcohol content, this Caroni feels very light in the mouth and is therefore very pleasant to drink. But a bit on the light side.

After tasting the Old Legend, another strongly diluted Caroni from Velier. Well, another convincing rum with a very round profile. Nose is definitely more complex and has more depth than the 1985 but the palate finish is shorter. Two really good rums however 😊

Incredibly sweet... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing at the height of its glory a rum that was added in a ratio of 1:10 to the naval blend. It was too distinctive and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery stopped production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is truly a unique rum.

Sehr leichter Caroni mit einigen untypischen Noten. Weniger Teer dafür leicht blumig. Es fehlt an Komplexität und Power. Sicher ein guter Rum. Der Preis steht aber wie so oft in keinem Verhältnis zur Qualität.

A pleasant, rounded Caroni. Easy to drink, almost a bit too tame. Sweeter than expected. The nose smells of vanilla, wood, a bit of tar and fruit. The taste is nutty, chocolaty and roasted. All in all, a Caroni that you can also introduce to beginners.

Little Caroni brother:) It has all Caroni features, tar, leather, oak, nutes, but it is not on steroids like its bigger brothers in amazing Velier's Caroni flotilla. Given the dilution it can find broader audience to enter magic Caroni world.

Tasting date 19.08.2026 lovely birthday gift from Mr. Daniel Jungberg. RX6356 Caroni Blended 1993 Nose: Heavy diluted, leather and woody oak, bitter notes. Light nutty sweetness, milk chocolate, dark stone fruits. Mouth: Woody and dried figs and prunes. Balanced sweetness, weak layers of dirty workshop. Some subtitle fruits. Residual taste: Toasted oak. Cocoa and light nutmeg. Spiced, white pepper notes. Light dried figs and prunes. Bitter sour oak and woody. Short residual taste, not a single classic Caroni note. End up over spiced peppery and woody. The glass: Sweet smoke, bitter oak, subtle notes. Tasting “In the cave”
