Most people land on the same verdict: fine mixed, tricky neat. The nose leans tobacco, vanilla and a little chocolate; the palate is lightly sweet with vanilla and caramel but turns dry and a touch hot on the finish. One taster called it "quasi imbevibile liscio," while others happily sip it. Where it earns its keep is in a dark and stormy or a mojito.

This one is definitely better than the El Dorado. On the nose quite woody, but also a pleasant sweetness thanks to vanilla. On the palate also slightly sweetish, mainly thanks to vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Wood is also noticeable.

I love this one for a dark and stormy. 4 cl Matusalem Half a lime freshly squeezed Top off with a good ginger beer

Tobacco is dominant on the nose, followed by fruit and chocolate. Mildly spicy in the mouth, slightly sharp and a dry taste on the tongue. A spiciness remains on the finish.

It has flavor, but too little of it. The aroma is a bit restrained, but you can find barrel, vanilla, herbaceousness, a bit of pharmacy, a bit of chocolate. On the mouth it opens with woody-chocolate notes, continues with grass. Fruits on the tip of the knife. The aftertaste is dry, long, barrel and dry grass. I would say this rum differs from classic Dominican.

Vanille, Karamell, minimale Kaffee Note, im Mund kommt etwas Eiche dazu. Im Abgang Schärfe, leicht alkoholisch. Solide, keine Fehlnoten, macht sich sicher gut als Mixer, pur ist der Matusalem 15 zu bevorzugen, der von allem mehr mitbringt, milder, cremiger und gefälliger ist. - Pur: 3/5
