Dense, complex on the nose with lots of tropical fruit and (pleasant!) solvent. The great impression continues on the palate. Insanely complex and delicious Hampden. The 35 years of maturation have made the rum incredibly round and elegant. There is an exciting smoky note on the finish. Excellent Hampden!

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery, you can smell wild esters, after which your whole body soaks up the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

Corman Collins is pretty good at picking their casks and this one is no exception. An intense profile with fruits and roasted wood. I'd say the roasting notes are close to burnt and it leaves a really nice smoky note in the empty glass. Made a note that the empty glass also had marzipan and caramel.

The aroma is very pleasant and comfortable. but…oddly, it has a significantly heavier ester(sense) and more open scent than either the little-higher-proof tropical HV HGML, the little-higher RA #211, #6, or the relatively lower kill devil. Complicated enough, I like it. round and not spicy, which I think is helped by the low alcohol level. The finish is long, as predicted by the smell and tasting. perfect abv for Hampden.

27-07-2026 - Rate 9.6 This one have been tasten a few times before. Frist time rating. We had it blind with 3 other Hampden Titans. This one was second best for me. Only beaten by Nobilis 27 Years. Perhaps the last time a have tasted this amazing rum 🥺

The nose is very expressive and there's no doubt this is Hampden. The profile is elegant, with hints of olives, ripe tropical fruit and citrus. On the palate, the alcohol is perfectly integrated, it's complex and the taste buds take it all in. There are notes of solvent and olives, followed by more gourmand notes of banana and caramelized pineapple. It's an incredible velvet of gourmandise. The length is endless! This rum is incredibly smooth and balanced, and the 35-year wait was clearly worth it! I'm really lucky and happy to have been able to taste it, and even more so in my forties. If the price wasn't an obstacle (it currently sells for €1,000), I'd have a bottle and drink it by the bucketful. There's no doubt in my mind that it's a cut above the Famille Ricci 39 ans. Now all I have to do is compare it to its twins: Rum Artesanal, Kill Devil, Valinch & Mallet, ...
