Most helpful positive review
This is the best one in Angostura’s No 1 series in my opinion. The nose is fruity, woody and roasted with scents of tropical fruits and roasted almonds. At the palate it’s fruity, woody, round, sweet, nutty and roasted with flavors of dried fruits and oak. The finish is medium long.

The nose is nice with fruit and vanilla. After resting for a while you get v caramel, molasses and oak. The palate is slightly dry and sweet with fruit and nuts. The cognac cask is clear without being too dominant. The finish is long, slightly dry with almonds and oak and yet again the cognac.

Day trip Düsseldorf September 2025. Pub Mojito's fine cocktail bar. Number 5 for today, here goes an Angostura. A pleasant, sweet rum where vanilla and caramel dominate. Some wood and a general spiciness, as well as nuts, are also present.

My RumRatings review from 6 years ago: Compared to the 1787, the Angostura is mild and balanced. On the nose, you find classic rum notes of caramel, vanilla, and woody spices. On the palate, sweetness is present at first. Plums, raisins, and balanced wood notes come together in a good composition. You can also detect a bit of tobacco. Everything is very balanced and mild. One of the mildest rums I've tasted. The finish is sweet again and the rum fades out pleasantly. The Angostura No 1 is easy to drink. The alcohol is barely noticeable. Balanced and mild, it probably pleases everyone. Unfortunately, it's also a bit boring. It lacks that certain something. This is especially noticeable given the high price and the complexity of other cheaper Angosturas. For a 100 Euro rum, it just offers a bit too little.
