One of the best Grand Arômes Savanna has put out, and the reviews barely argue about it. Overripe pineapple and mango pour out first, then strawberry, cherry and a honeyed toffee sweetness, with the salty, briny signature of the wet cellar underneath. The esters are loud but rounded — several tasters note how well the 59% is buried. Long, minty, almost endless finish.

Wonderful! What a great rum! A typical Grand Arome with tropical fruits, strawberry, astringent, crème brûlée. The alcohol is very well integrated and the finish is very long with a bit more wood than was noticeable in the nose and taste before.

I like it even better than the 8y chai humide. And even a tad better than the Madras! The best chai humide to date! Incredibly complex and intense! Ester, honey, toffee, confectionery and mango, pineapple with cherry and strawberry on the nose. the taste is a mega explosion of toffee, mango, pineapple and peach-cherry iced tea, strawberry mint salad, mango chutney and incredibly delicious. The finish then adds a brilliant mint note, light barrel notes and esters reminiscent of hubba bubba kirsch. very, very cool!🤤 still by far one of the best savanna's ever.

Wonderfully balanced and complex Savanna. The Grand Arome style is naturally present, but not as extreme as, for example, Thunderstruck. Alcohol and esters are well and smoothly integrated.

🎨 Beautiful copper color with green and yellow highlights. 👃 Very aromatic! Soft and slightly tangy esters. A bunch of ripe to very ripe fruits, from cherry clafoutis, gariguette strawberry dusted with icing sugar and fresh mint. A more tropical side with mango, guava, passion fruit. Sweetness of creamy vanilla pastries, cooked caramel, mild spices. Solvents are present but don’t dominate. More lightly, exotic wood smoke, cured meat, olive and brine, an almost iodine side, all of which raise the complexity of this nose a notch. 😋 No doubt, you’re hit by a wave of very ripe, almost fermentary fruits. Combination of overripe and caramelized pineapple, mango, papaya, guava. Red fruits are lighter. Spicy, mentholated, and dry heat and astringency. The sweetness of the nose takes a back seat here, the flavors are intense, powerful, concentrated. Yet at no point is the alcohol felt. ⛳ Very long, even endless, I get this sensation of synthetic strawberry and cherry aromas used in yogurt preparations, but also strawberries left too long in the sun and fermenting. Dry wood, spicy (red pepper and pink berries), bitter. Fresh and rough mint. 🫗 Here it is, the characteristic smell of my grandmother’s homemade jams with garden fruits, still warm, cooked in molasses and copper. Happiness. 🏅 Every time I come back to it, it’s undeniably one of my best Savanna. Master of balance and intensity, funk and complexity, spices and iodine, fruitiness and sweetness. I love this sensation of fine fruit-sweetened pastry. 🆕 At the same time, and for comparison, can’t wait to discover the brand new GA 2007 co-bottled with RumX, the RX20991, the one stirring all the current passions.

The nose is very elegant on vanilla, leather, spices (cumin...) and obviously the esters from long fermentations. On the palate, it’s balanced and perfectly dosed. A delicate dosage of spices, overripe fruits, and menthol freshness. Olive, damp wood (hmm, is it the humid warehouse giving this sensation?), and honey make this vintage excellent! The finish is indulgent and long, even endless on licorice and sour cherry.

Rums from the Savanna distillery are some of my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-rich pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in a few drops of liquid for a long time.

Diamant edition of the RFC 2025 advent calendar If I'm not mistaken, "chai humide" is the so-called wet cellar, its walls are only a few meters from the ocean, which significantly affects their flavor profile. It's no different here and the result is a fruity bon pari bomb with a bit of salt.

A little marvel. You can clearly feel the influence of the humid cellar, the brine is perfect, a very fruity framework on yellow-fleshed fruits, citrus note, almost no bitterness, controlled astringency. The bottle is more than half empty so it had time to oxidize, the alcohol is divinely integrated. Slightly smoky note on the empty glass. A little candy of balance.

Esters in quantity and quality that nonetheless offer a perfect balance for incredible finesse. Obviously subtle olive but especially on tropical fruits! What an incredible indulgence. The infinite finish on licorice. It's impressive. Hard to do better on the big aromas side. With this "Chai Humide" we are touching perfection here for the great pleasure of our taste buds. Reunion with this bottle is at the top of the big aromas without having to envy the greats of Jamaica or Guyana. On my personal podium...

Definitely Grand Arome! Fruity vinegar, esters, almost a bit sweaty. Plus cherry and strawberry, but already fermented. A honey-sweet and lightly caramelized note lingers. Spicy towards vanilla powder and a bit bitter herbal towards olive come in. All very interesting. Also clearly Grand Arome on the palate! Intensely fruity but very artificial. Some astringency. Clearly strawberry and cherry with caramel cream candy. Vanilla and some cinnamon added and all a bit toasted. The finish becomes increasingly soapy. You have to like it, but then it's really tasty.

I would describe the aroma as a typical wild Herr tamed by vanilla ice cream. Flavor-wise, Herr's strawberry notes with esters, but a bit too straightforward. In the finish, strawberry, apple cider, bitterness. Very drinkable but overall flatter. Something was missing for me.

A great nose all in ripe fruit with the big aroma framework, beautiful balance between honey and some red fruits. A feat in integration and balance. On the palate the expression of the damp warehouse and subtle olive is mastered.
