Grays S.B.S Mauritius 2008

One member called it a "very nice bottle," and that easy-going take fits: a Mauritius column-still rum with a port finish that stays in the background rather than taking over. Expect grape, raisin and raspberry-candy fruit next to chili, cinnamon and pepper, with a mild sweetness. At 55.7% it drinks surprisingly gently — several tasters call it dangerously drinkable.

The community says
  • Fruity, grape and raisin
  • Well-judged port finish
  • But: Lacks complexity

83 Punkte

Auburn Aroma: Smells sweet and very fruity raisins and port, while surprisingly mild and round for the alcohol content. Taste: Round and fruity-sweet in the mouth, then becomes spicy. When swallowed, it tastes of raspberry candy and sweets (maoam). Fruity raspberry syrup, port, red grape juice and raisins. In addition, toffee, cloves and cinnamon, pepper and wood. Finish: Medium length Spicy and woody, yet still fruity and vinous. Remains pleasant.

Ingwer dabeikommen. Worth a try!

Reißt mich nicht vom Hocker. Schmeckt irgendwie seltsam.

cane juice at something like cask strength is another story. Complex, warm, balanced, iridescent between the red fruity notes and the brown caramel notes. A nice night out, a warm touch…too man samples today

Mauritius is the rum island of the Indian Ocean, a sugarcane country that makes it all: smooth aged molasses rum, fresh-juice agricole, and the spiced and fruit-steeped rhum arrange that locals drink. That range across three rum styles makes it one of the most varied origins in rum, still flying under the radar of most drinkers.
