Svenska Eldvatten Caroni Weiron 1999
People already into Caroni are the audience here — a 1999 distillate at 55.3% carrying the classic tar, rubber and caramel-fudge profile. The nose surprises a few with overripe tropical fruit (papaya, ripe mango) over the usual dirt, but on the palate that fruit mostly fades, leaving mineral fizz and cask sweetness. One taster called the finish short and a touch one-dimensional.
- Classic Caroni tar
- Balanced nose
- Mineral fizz

Very well balanced nose. Caroni notes are present and clearly identifiable however acompanied by quite some tropical fruits rather than dried fruits which you can find in other Caronis more often. With some time in the Glas dirty notes become more present. Also very balanced on the palate - some dirt and mineralis notes with notes from the cask and caramel fudge. In contrast to the nose I don‘t get much fruits here.

A sort of blend of caroni and Jamaica. A bit smoky. Not to my taste, I didn't finish my glass ... Not at all what I expect from a bottle stamped caroni.

My first 1999 Caroni. I actually find it quite tasty. Nose: Nice dirty-sweet-malty Caroni note, but also accompanied by (overripe) tropical fruits (especially ripe papaya, jackfruit or very ripe dark yellow mangoes ... almost going a bit towards durian). Later also red forest berries. Like a 97 over the thumb with additional beautiful fruit notes. But on the palate there is less to hardly any fruit but classic Caroni notes and a nice mineral tingle on the tongue. I actually wanted to sell it, but thanks to Jakob's advice I kept it after all. It was a good idea 🙌🏽

Relaxed Caroni with classic Caroni notes in the profile - but quite balanced. One of the early releases from 1999, but already showing the potential of the vintage. A nice "drinking Caroni" with a little air.

Am Anfang kurz schöne Bourbon-Noten, eher leicht, dann plötzlich die volle Dröhnung Caroni mit dreckigen Noten, bevor er wieder mild endet. Sehr spannend!
