Hampden fans hunting something off the usual path will find this the most interesting: a 5-year Trelawny pot-still at a punchy 61.5%. Expect dried fruit, sherry, vanilla and leather with plenty of ester funk. Not everyone's happy — one taster caught "old damp cellar" on the nose, another a stray onion note. A splash of water tames the rough edges nicely.

Quite interesting scent, hints of vanilla and dried fruit. In mouth it's sherry, vanilla, oak, brandy, a bit of sweetness and marzipan. A quite long finish with a taste of oak, vanilla and caramel. Good rum for the low age.

Vintage 2013. With a 1.0 out of 10, it ranks at the very bottom of my list. There are bottles you only need to taste once.

Dark, spicy and creamy. The finish gives the Hampden depth and is reminiscent of a Pagos. The alcohol is not ideally integrated, therefore slight deductions. Otherwise exciting bottling!

Got to try this today at dear Pit Krause's place in the Walhalla of Whisky. Many thanks for that. Nice entry-level Jamaican. I couldn't detect any musty notes like some people write. Fruity nose, slightly medicinal and molasses-like. On the palate, fruity notes, alcohol very well integrated (bottle was half empty, so it might have evaporated a bit) a bit funky but not overwhelming. Nice young rum.

To me, it smells like an old damp cellar in the nose, not really my thing. In the finish, a taste emerges that I unfortunately cannot identify, but I don't like it at all. However, I like it better now than the first time I drank it.

Actually find it very successful. All those self-proclaimed nerds here with their 70s ratings shouldn't always raise the rating bar to Hampden level. Interesting price with a nice finish and lots of Jamaica 🇯🇲.
