Green banana, citrus and a whiff of that classic Guyana "wet cellar" earthiness set the tone — this is a lighter, dry Port Mourant, not the thick tarry kind. Mineral and medicinal iodine notes run through it, with vanilla, pepper and wood coming in on the palate. At 51.9% it starts with a little sweetness, then turns spicy and dry. Several members happily sip it as a daily pour.

18.07.2026 Retasting and I still find it pretty good 😊 ----------- 08.01.2022 Nice little tasting at my home with a few colleagues. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, fruits, plum, faint chocolate, light caramel, medicinal. Palate Fresh, balanced, wood, fruits, light orange, prunes, light caramel, polish, medicinal. Finish Medium to long, wood, light roasted, fruits, light orange, faint chocolate, faint tobacco, light iodine.

Today three Uitvlugt from 1997 24yr (RX11475), 1998 22yr (RX8122) and 1999 14yr (RX6548) parallel in the glass. In contrast to its competitors, the Duchess has a nice dark color, while the others are very pale. In terms of taste, the Tamosi is just ahead of the Duchess. Unfortunately, the Kill Devil cannot quite keep up with its competitors.

8:On the nose it is quite fruity, the first impression we get is a smoky plum with iodine and a bit metallic.Some caramel and roasted notes could be present. As we air it, it becomes spicy, woody, dry and more tropical with overripe fruits, as almost rotten banana, but still iodized, there is some vanilla, licorice and chocolate. Similar to some Waterford whisky... 8,2:On the palate the first attack is fruity and medicinal, as it stays a bit iodized, with a touch of a copper. There are spicy and woody notes joined, as vanilla, pepper, cinammon and dryness.The first impression is similar to Waterford Cuvée whisky. Molasses and licorice come out later, as the tropical fruits are more intense and some brine might show up. Otherwise round and tasty with berries, especially after some rest. 8,2:The finish is long, woody and dry with more light citrus fruits and tobacco notes, juicy strawberry and inevitable pencilshavings...🙂. Hike through the Geisterholz forest in Oelde. Halfway done, even with the rums :-) Now an Uitvugt, I don't usually like them, but I like this one. Quite mineral and chemical and fermented as always, but really tasty.

Very interesting technical scent. Something like a mix of esters, stiffness, soap, cocoa and berries. Very fun to smell. On the palate, lots of vanilla, technical elements and perhaps leather. Finishes iodine with tropical fruit and a hint of blackberry TDL.

For 16y it's quite flat on the nose, a little citrus, cookie dough, tea and the familiar Guyana gauze 😀 I find it quite good as a daily sipper, but it depends on the situation, today it wasn't quite my cup of tea. It starts with a nice sweetness that quickly turns spicy/peppery and woody.

It is extremly mild. But I do taste Haiti in the taste for about 20%. And it does not work well with Uitvlugt IMO..

Port Mourant is unfortunately not my thing, the taste of a damp cellar bothers me. Smells earthy to me like a whisky somehow.

On the nose a lot of leather, little green apples, something between continent and tropics, neither fully reached, the finish very spicy and mineral.
