The surprise here is the split personality: a knockout nose of banana, cherry and caramel that several tasters rate their favorite part, then a palate that turns dark — dried prunes, chocolate, nuts and licorice. A 31-year-old Damoiseau agricole from 1953, mild and gently sweet at 42%. Lovely, though a few feel the low proof leaves the palate slightly thin.

Just got a bottle at a very good discount. One of the perks of being a big private collector. Just did a retaste. The nose is really nice and it's there from pouring it's just tickling your nose from afar. It start off very fruity with orange/lemon dominating. Then descends into wood and smoke. A very nice nose indeed. The palate is surprisingly warm the proof considered, but it is a disappointment because the flavours get mixed up and I think this one would have benefitted from a higher proof. Not as fruity and slightly tannin/tea bitter. The finish is medium long and woody/fruity.

A surprisingly fresh nose with dried and fresh fruits, fermented notes, dry herbs and plant fiber rope. Lots of sweetness on the first sip, dry herbs and still dried and fresh fruits. An acidity develops in the finish. A beautiful rum, certainly not just cane juice but also a bit of molasses.

Great vintage from Guadeloupe with an unusually intense prune and chocolate note. Very mild and sweetly pleasing and safely drinkable. Delicious but I wouldn't need a bottle of it. Nevertheless, an exciting opportunity!

Great Agricole. The nose is mostly fruity, banana and cherry are recognizable, also a hint of caramel. On the palate then quite different, mostly (dark) chocolate, but also nut and licorice.

Tasting with Mr. Daniel Jungberg on 18.07.2026 RX 6570 Damoiseau 1953. Nose: Slightly closed nose, faint apricot, light bitter pear and overripe mirabelle, light citrus. Palate: Deep sweet barrel. Dried fruits like raisin, date and prune, nuts and nougat. Light caramel. The aftertaste is lightly bitter tea. Smoke and spices, a bit of burnt butter, pleasant dry barrel character. With prune and date. Glass: Slightly bitter cigar tobacco. Tasting “Home sweet home”

It's difficult to evaluate a piece of history like this damoiseau distillery 73 years ago, when my parents were not born. Emotion side, it's a 10/10, also because it's clearly noticeable the DNA that has been inherited by the Bellevue 1988 The nose is a bit closed, driven by custard and vanilla first, then wood and cherries. The palate is rich and vibrant, with chocolate, agrumes and wood, but also black tea. Overall, a good rhum

Tungen på eventyr 🥃 : smager jeg et tydeligt fadpræg uden at dominere. Der er en masse tørret frugt som dadler, sveske og rosiner! Den smager ogsø lidt røget med et strejf af noget krydret! Halen på historien💫 : En sindsygt god agrikol, der for mig ikke kan samlignes med andre, som jeg har smagt! Finish byder på sort the og godt med chokolade! Mums!

Ten years ago, I had the chance to try this rum in a bar in Guadeloupe. But back then, I was just starting my rum journey and the price put me off. I later regretted it and was on the lookout for a sample for a long time. Thanks to Rumurmel, who helped me heal that trauma now 😉 About the rum itself: The nose is amazing and totally excites me, but the palate is a bit disappointing, probably due to the dilution. Nose maybe around 8.7 but palate rather below 8.0.

Insanely beautiful bottle. You can't taste the age here. Very pleasant rum from sugarcane juice. Due to the low alcohol content, very easy to drink but also without real highlights.

The bottle was my entry after Don Papa. I still find it very good today. On the nose, there is some wood with dried fruits. On the palate, little wood but fruit, sweetness somewhat banana chocolate. Due to only 42%, it is extremely easy drinking.

Dessert for Sunday lunch. Very pleasant nose, reminiscent of caramels, vanilla pudding, and fruit. The taste is slightly diminished by the lower ABV. Tobacco, tea, flowers, and wood. Sweet tones alternate with wood and fruit.

Dried plum, licorice, tarry wood. Pleasant, not loud. Almost a Guyana-Agricole, but not as deep and complex as the really good DDLs. Smoky in the mouth, rather light, dark fruits, some wood, but unfortunately you notice the strong dilution. Nice chocolatey finish, also licorice. But why dilute something so unique and old? Hopefully not for profit. It could have deserved 50%. #48:260917

This is one of the times you just pray for more abv. Not because this is not full and intense, but just because you feel that there could have been one of the truly great spirits if it's age here. Nice rum, try it if you can
