Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Together with Paradise #5, this remains my favorite Caroni from the 2000 vintage. In direct comparison with significantly more menthol on the nose. On the palate with a powerful taste, great residual sweetness, woodiness and a pointed presence of the individual aromas. Absolute top class.

Wonderful representative of the 2000 Velier Caronis. Together with the Paradise 5, it forms the elite of this vintage, for me in second place, as the #5 seems somewhat rounder. Of course, typical Caroni DNA at the top level here too.

What can I say or write? I am thrilled! For me, it combines the classic Caroni... lots of dirty aromas, something fresh, with menthol, mint, vanilla, fruit, some coffee and an endless finish, just delicious 🤤

A wonderful Caroni! Pretty sure this is the first 2000 vintage I have tried and it didn't dissapoint. Very powerful, on the nose there's is tar, menthol and vanilla, on the palate, its wonderfully complex and dirty, tar, wood, oils, then some sweetness with cappuccino. Enjoyed this one!

Wow, great nose. Dirty Caroni and a full basket of fruit. Very complex, warm, the alcohol is well integrated, the long time in the tropics shows in perfect ripeness. You can sniff it for a long time. Very, very strong in the mouth. Lots of spice, especially pepper Medium-long finish. Spices, caramel. Great 2000 Caroni, I like it better than the Dicky.🤩

9,2:On the nose, menthol bumps into our nosetrils, with dried(apricots, raisins) and tropical fruits like mango, banana, industrial notes like rubber, tar, roasted wood notes like butterscotch. On aeration, aromas are balanced, round, creamy with vanilla, nuts, red fruits and berries. 9,2:On the palate, the attack is delicious, round with dirty industrial notes like tar, rubber, menthol and intermingle with roasted, toasted wood notes with leather, caramelized burnt sugar, later dark chocolate and caramel, spiciness, dried and tropical fruits, after resting with citrus, currants and berries, with flowery and herbaceous molasses. 9,2:The finish is long, tannic, milder as before, fruity with dried fruits, dark with licorice, roasted wood notes like coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, nuts, spicy and the molasses is minty, earthy with tobacco..

90 points. Outstanding Caroni from the 2000 vintage. All the flavours that I like in a good Caroni are present in the nose and on the palate: Vanilla, tar, menthol, tropical fruit with banana shining through, leather, burnt sugar. A delight with an outstanding and long finish.

A Caroni that I liked very much right away. My experience with the 2000 vintage was limited until now. What you get here, however, I like really good and I could hardly imagine that this goes much better. Very complex, very fruity, dirty and with a beautiful barrel maturity at the same time, which is also here for me virtually on the point. Should you ever really have a craving for junkyard flavor, I would personally wish for exactly that again.... Not too coarse, but also in no case too softened

Really tasty 2000 Caroni ... I've only tried a few Velier 2000s, but this is the most convincing. Dirty Caroni notes with tar, rubber and gunpowder in combination with round caramel/toffee and fruit (banana, mango, dried fruit) as well as nice wood and leather notes.

... Caroni je destilerie z Trinidadu, produkujici v dobe sve nejvetsi slavy rum, ktery se pridaval v pomeru 1:10 do namornickeho blendu. Byl totiz moc vyrazny a divny nez aby byl prijemny na jazyku. V roce 2000 destilerka skoncila s produkci a byla uzavrena. Az v roce 2010 se objevili degustatori, kteri si rum oblibili prave pro jeho specialni chut. A zajem rostl. Caroni patri do kategorie rumu "you need to try before you die". Doporucuji, Caroni je opravdu unikatni rum.

There were a few employes in the test today. Yunkoo, Buju, Nitz and Brigade. To sum up, they are all very tasty caronis. For me, only Brigade is the one that has lost out a little, the others are all very close together. My ranking today would be: 1st Yunkoo 2. Nitz 3. Buju 4. brigade

"What a fantastic 2000 offering. Fresh and dirty rubber and menthol. A load of roast aromas with tar and a hint of mentholy vanilla. Some tar to finish this strong caroni and really wakes it place at an already strong year."
