Un Caroni plus subtil avec le vieillissement entre Trinidad et Guyana. Cette influence se retrouve au nez, avec d’un côté les notes de goudron et de caoutchouc, de boisé et de cuir, puis les notes sombres et plus fruitées de l’autre. L’ensemble est homogène et équilibré. Le palais oscille entre la puissance de Caroni (hydrocarbures, caoutchouc, notes fumées) et la douceur de Guyana (chocolat, café, fruits tropicaux), offrant un profil complexe et délicat, étonnamment gourmand et sucré après aération. La finale est plus subtile et mince qu’à l’accoutumé chez Caroni, le profil sombre des rhums de Guyana prenant le dessus ici. Un Caroni plutôt atypique de par son vieillissement, mais un hybride tout en finesse qui se veut complexe et gourmand.

Wow, they just keep scoring high. Again typical Caroni flavours nd once rested you really get the roasted notes. Lightly fruity with vanilla and a bit of caramel. Intense yet well balanced.

I let this one rest for an hour before sampling it. All classic Caroni are present in the nose with a touch of lovely sweetness. I could smell it for hours. I’m the mouth the rum has similar notes with a touch of chocolate added.

Zusammen spontan mit Jarek beim Sampletausch zwei wahllos ausgesuchte Caronis auf der Terasse probiert. Im Duell waren der RX6598 und der RX7335. Ohne Frage alles zwei Topp-Abfüllungen. Mir hat aber die 2000er Abfüllung ein wenig besser gefallen als die 1996er, da dieser fruchtiger und frischer gewirkt hat ohne an den "dreckigen" Caroni zu sparen.

Schön röstige Noten, Vanille, Karamell, Teer, Backgewürz und etwas Frucht (Banane, Bratapfel und eine dunkle Fruchtigkeit) an der Nase. Sehr schön. Top Nase 👃 Am Gaumen kommen dann schöne dunkle Schokolade aber auch recht viel Holz dazu. Vom Gefühl her, hätte der glaube ich gut 1-2 Jahre früher abgefüllt werden können.

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: The age makes itself recognizable in quite tart-bitter notes, which nevertheless do not overpower the rum. Very good, but not enough for the absolute top class from 1996.

Nez après un petit quart d'heure de repos très agréable. Me fait penser à la crème brûlée et donne envie d'y aller. En bouche les mêmes notes vanillées de crème brûlée. Amertume juste bien à mon goût. Finale très longue et agréable, plus fraîche et sur le fruit. Très différent des marqueurs caroni que je trouve habituellement.

Déboussolé car dégustation à l'aveugle j'étais loin d'imaginer à un caroni mais plutôt à un guyana ou même belize.. Le nez est sublime par contre
