The surprise here is a salty, mineral streak that runs under the fresh sugarcane and citrus — a few tasters found it "unangenehm salzig," a couple liked it exactly for that. Fresh cane, citrus zest, light herbs and a peppery finish make it a natural Ti'Punch base, though some feel it's a bit simple and short on fruit for sipping.

Since it has a little more oomph 😉 than the white Saint James (RX3635) tasted directly before it, but otherwise also meets my taste, this unaged Agricole also gets one point more from me for its pure performance: 81.

The standard HSE 50 works good neat, which my rating is based on, and works very well in a Ti’Punch. The nose as well as at the palate it’s intense, floral and fruity with a scent/flavor of pepper. During the medium long finish it also shows some ripeness and a flavor of sugarcane.

13.06.2025 Retasting and I stick to my score. -------------------- 08.01.2022 Nice little tasting at my home with a few colleagues. Notes Transparent in colour. Nose Fresh, citrus, light herbs, light olive, spices. Palate Fresh, warm, citrus, sugarcane, light olive, faint salt, light vegetal, faint herbs. Finish Medium long, fresh, warm, citrus, olive, light grass.

The HSE did not convince me on the nose. But it was a little surprise on the palate. I like the salty and mineral notes in combination with the typical Agricole notes.

Oh yes, another 1A Caribbean feeling here with this Agricole rum, just as I love it. Again, lemon in citrus fruits on the nose and palate. Tastes very refreshing. Can of course also be used for a Ti Punch.

My RumRatings review from 4 years ago: The rum is very special on the nose. Pure sugarcane juice shoots into the nose. I find it hard to find other aromas there. I'm not at home here. On the palate then the surprise. The rum is pleasantly sweet and the alcohol well integrated. A nice fruit note with some citrus is recognizable. Agricole notes remain for a long time. Not quite suitable for sipping, but possible. A very good rum for mixing and blending. Definitely worth an experience.

I quite like the HSC blanc. On the nose lots of chocolate, coffee but also coffee. On the palate also chocolaty and a hint of vanilla. The rum has a nice natural sweetness. Quite tasty.

Hard to describe but somehow unpleasantly salty, stronger mineral notes than other Agricoles from Martinique. For Ti'Punch I prefer the HSE 55.

Intense fresh cane nose, very floral. On the palate it's also floral with a nice length. It's simple but how good are Ti-Punch 🤤. However, you can find better base whites for Ti-Punch than this HSE 50% which lacks fruity notes and pleasure. It will be better showcased in an arrangé or a planteur.
