Peat freaks and whisky drinkers curious about crossover bottles are the real audience here. This Fiji rum spent time in a Kilchoman cask and it shows: heavy smoke, iodine, bacon and ashtray, with Fiji's tropical fruit and esters fighting through underneath. One taster called it a "weird experiment," and that's fair. When it breathes, the fruit pushes back against the peat.

#6213 10.01.2026 Relaxing with a few samples before going shopping for next week. The wind is heavy outside and the temperature is, not really summer today. Nose Medium intense, light wood, smoke, light peat, light floral, nutts, pineapple, faint chocolate. Palate Wood, light smoke, light peat, light salt, nutts, light caramel, spice, banana, faint iodine. Finish Loog, warm, light smoke, light peat, light salt, light chocolate, pineapple. Empty glass Peat, light smoke, light chocolate, nutts, faint caramel.

Rum on the side! It smells like fermented molasses with lots of fruit flavors and the palate yo-yo's on the peat, with great length. So the bottle was almost empty, but great product. I don't understand the low scores!

Wow, what a slap in the face! The whisky rum mix is crazy! To sum up, my tasting notes: Nose: Smoky, Phenolic Mouth: Peat, Smoke, Intense, Dry, Bacon Finish: Peat, Smoke, Tropical fruit

Bought without knowing it has a whisky finish. Luckily, here it is less negative than usual. On the nose you can still recognize the rum even though iodine and peat dominate. They are not too extreme and leave room for fruity apple notes. On the palate I can't keep up anymore. The peaty whisky blends with the rum esters and creates a complex but almost overwhelming palette of competing notes. Besides the whisky, bitterness remains, euphemistically pointing towards grapefruit. Above average for a whisky finish but still not my thing.

Rum with finish in ex-islay / smoky whiskey barrel is usually to be enjoyed with caution and the smoke gladly slays everything. Here just on the border and the rum DNA is still present. I like the mix of smoke and esters or fruit. The longer it breathes, the more the esters come through. Either way, one should have experience with ashtray whiskies.

Ashtray, in smell, in taste in everything. I've never had anything smokier. The expression of the cask in this case is very, very intense. Super fiji, super plantation. Even after ten minutes, you get the feeling that you've just finished smoking

Neck pour was very peaty and not at all what I was expecting. The rum behind the smokey us decent. Some sweetness and fruit peaks through. Not overly dosed thankfully. I used to like peat bombs, but not really digging it with the rum.

If you like to find out, what you can do to a rum through double aging, this is your possibility. This one starts all over with the peaty and smoky note from the Isle of Islay, but is still mixed with the Fiji tropical fruits. Wooden notes as well. This strong impression stays for the taste and the long finish. Are you sure that this it’s really rum, you are drinking? So if you want to broaden your collection of rums and impress your Whisky drinking friends at the same time, get your hands on this 2020 limited edition. Great stuff!

Nose Smoke, peat, some tropical fruits Taste Much more smoke, peat, something like peated whisky, tropical fruits, grapefruit zest, bitter. Smoke is much more intense than fruits Finish is rather short with longer lingering peat Idea of rum with smoky flavor for me is something I search for. This time it is not what I want. Rum on it own is interesting, complex with lots of different flavors, but I don't think esters and fruits in this bottle can compite with intensity of peat. For me this rum is bit lacking, great concept, but execution not so much. Don't get me wrong, I still think it is a good rum worth to try, especially for people who like smoke that is not overwhelming

Color dark golden. Aroma wild esters, fruit, later peat, smoked meat, smokiness. Taste smoked meat, peat, smokiness, later dried fruit. Finish long peat, nuts, smokiness, tobacco.

The nose is amazing. I could smell it all day. Unfortunately, the taste isn't quite for me. Too much peat and close to whisky flavor.
