On the nose, you immediately recognize that the alcohol content must be higher than that of "The Warehouse Rum No.8 Long Pond 2000 Cask #23, Jamaica, 14y, 46%" - but you can't guess that it's just under 18%. Apart from that, I can still detect glue, vanilla and toffee, which was not discernible in the TWR. Apples and banana are also there, but not as present as in the diluted version. Baaaam! There's the almost 18% on the palate, which you couldn't quite make out on the nose. The same fruits from the TWR can also be found here in the RDS - but not as intensively. However, the herbal aromas, herbs and medicine are all the stronger, which can also be found in the finish. Again medium-long to short with a hint of aniseed. The body is somewhat more powerful in this version and the herbal aromas and herbs are more present compared to the drinking strength version. On the other hand, the aroma profile with the fruit basket is somewhat broader in the diluted version. I'm actually a fan of fruit, but in this case I like the body of the RDS a little better than the broader aroma profile of the TWR. I can also easily turn the cask strength version into a 46% version - it's more difficult the other way round
