People who got to try this one talk about it like a highlight. It's a single-cask Caroni from 1996, and unlike the darkest, tarriest side of the distillery, tasters find it fruitier and brighter, with wood, coffee, chocolate and that unmistakable petrol-and-varnish edge. At 68.1% the alcohol reads well integrated. Very dark, oily, and one that keeps opening in the glass.

05.06.2026 I am in the mood for Caroni today so I decided to dig out some of the samples I have. No spitting today for sure 😃 ----------- 15.02.2020 Had a nice evening with dinner and everything and after that a nice little tasting. Notes. Very dark in colour. Nose Wood, spice, roasted, plum, glue, light caramel, citrus, light medicinal note. Palate Oily, complex, wood, roasted, chocolate, citrus, banana, varnish, light mint. Finish Very long, wood, varnish, citrus, mint, earthy. Extra note. The longer in the glass the more flavours are released.

Absolutely magnificent with sweet and dry notes perfectly balanced. Some hints of red fruits add more complexity. Legendary release from Velier ! One of my favorite Single Cask and probably one of the best Caroni I have ever tasted ! 🥰

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing rum at the height of its fame, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to naval blends. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery ended production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is really a unique rum.

Pure Caroni love! Heavy, full bodied with a nice balance of dark fruits, chocolate, industrial notes. Perfectly integrated alcohol with a super long and dry finish. Top class and happy I had the chance to try this.

Shamelessly finished half bottle at Auld Alliance, superb rum with strong body and superb expressions, fruity, bright and powerful, a bit wood added to increase the complexity Caroni Velier single casks expressions are interesting, they are not like those dark side Caronis, they are just fantastic rum Similar rums include Caroni “Fire”, Caroni Paradise 1998(if I am not wrong)

Ultra-concentrated, pine resin, kakonto, Ricolas powder, juicy, candied fruit, citron, camphor and sandalwood, lamp oil. Exceptional.
