I totally like New Grove. Great, intense aromas, both on the nose and on the palate. This one is bottled at a strong 60%. Probably 14yo. Nose: spicy-fruity-woody. First association is tea. More precisely a pack of green tea, freshly opened. Along with vanilla with a nice mix of coconut, passion fruit, orange and lemon. There's also a bit of pear. At the back are also slight mint and impressions of copper. It needs a little time in the glass so the 60% don't cloud it, then really great. 8.6 Palate: intense and strong, spicy and woody. At first there is mint and tea with plenty of violet. Also has a slightly metallic-coppery start. Pear and lemon peel provide fruitiness, maybe cardamom or nutmeg spice. The 60% give alcoholic sharpness but also aromatic depth. Great rum. 8.6

Great rum from Mauritius. After some time in the glass, coconut aromas (Foursquare?) are joined by tea and mint. On the fruity side, strawberry appears. For a better rating, the rum is a bit too wild/sharp.

Very round and easy to drink for 60%, fruity nose, but also very metallic and medicinal on the finish... after some breathing time, the medicinal note develops into menthol, mint, and black tea 🤤 Something quite different that I have never had from Mauritius before. Awesome stuff!
