T.D.L Angostura Aged 7 Years
Most people land on "fine but nothing grabs you" here. Expect raisin, caramel, milk chocolate and a light whisky-like note, with some spice and honey. Several tasters call it a good everyday sipper, a few find it too blended and one-dimensional, and more than one notes it tastes sweetened. Where it really shines is in a cola or daiquiri.

Visit to Rum Paradise Hamburg April 2025. Again, a rather average rum. Vanilla, caramel, and a bit of plum on the nose; on the palate, we get caramel, honey, but also a slight whisky note.
Review by Decky Hicks Doughty
The nose has lots of plum and grapes mixed with a note similar to calvados; apples and wild flowers. Raisins and milk chocolate are most present on the palate. There's also some toffee and ginger following. The finish is medium in length. Chocolate and butterscotch mainly. Overall its a good rum. Easy drinking. A session rum, as they say.

Bought as a mixer and it does a good job in some cocktails. But neat, it's nothing special for me.

Good price-performance ratio pure drinkable but great in cocktails. Especially round compared to others of the same age

Too blended

It was my breakthrough rum. Really good basic rum. I now know there is a lot of rums which offers maybe more flavour at this level, but it’s still one of the best for the price for me. Shame it’s sweetened.

Nothing half-hearted and nothing complete 😞

Good to drink solo on fall night and good to drink in coctails (daiquiri and cuba libre) BUT It’’s only my opinion :)

Straight off, on the nose, initial and faint alcohol soon gives over to a slightly spicy, and sweet candied orange peel aroma. A fairly singular aroma, with little complexity. Overall not unpleasant, but not an overly pleasant aroma either. The fruity sweetness has an almost candied peel liqueur quality. The initial arrival on the palate is sweet, but not too sweet. An upfront nutmeg spice is revealed. The initial fruityness on the nose drops off a little, revealing coffee notes, as well as weak black tea tannins. The finish is a little more rounded than the taste, leaving vanilla, coffee and slight wood notes. In nose, taste and finish it's not bad, but nothing grabs you. It lacks any real personality and character. The finish, whilst pleasant is rather short. Despite it's fairly lengthy aging, it lacks the character and body you can find with other similar aged, mass produced rums. Summary: This is a decent aged rum, coming in at a good price point. It's easy drinking, and doesn't challenge the palate. In fact I prefer it to the more expensive, and chemically tasting 1919. If I wanted a bottle of rum and this was all I could get, I'd buy. You can sip neat no problem, but I would get bored with it quickly. Any one of Havana 7, Ron Abeulo 7 or Appleton 8 would be chosen ahead of this rum.

Aroma includes orange, caramel, vanilla, and brown sugar. Flavors follow very closely with cinnamon and chocolate also in the mix. Very balanced and smooth, a good sipper.
Review by Jonas Kofod
Pleasant spicy, raisin sweet with a hint of cream toffee. Plays very well with cola, moreso than finer and more expensive vintage rums.
Review by Elvinas Vaičius
Heavy taste, spiced. Not a bad experience.

Average rum, i think it has a little bit of sugar added. Would not buy a bottle

Mal kein Vanille-Karamell. Drinks: - Pur: 3.5/5

Read full review →It just has that after taste that is a little off putting. Even at £25 I can't see me buying another bottle of this. It's not a terrible rum but it is a little one dimensional. It's bang average if I'm being honest. I think it might be a while...
