William Grant & Sons Discarded Spirits Banana Peel Rum

Splash it into cola or a cocktail and it comes alive: massive overripe banana up front, brown sugar, cocoa and vanilla, with a candy-gummy sweetness one taster pegged as "künstliche Haribo-Banane." Sip it neat and a few enjoy the dessert-like ride, but the sweetness turns syrupy fast and the alcohol sits a little rough. Fun, banana-forward, and honestly closer to a flavored liqueur than a classic rum.

Very sweet banana-candy rum, best mixed People agree on the banana — huge, ripe, a bit artificial. Great mixed into cola or cocktails; neat it reads very sweet and syrupy, and many feel it barely tastes like rum.

The banana goes here brute forward. Of course, so overripe and with 'ner good portion of chocolaty cake there. Wonderfully wacky, very exciting nose.In the mouth then very sweet, but despite the just 37.5% with some alcoholic sharpness on the way. But that goes very directly into the roasted flavors and a huge influence of the bourbon barrels.I personally like it, but you have to be aware of what you're getting into. Then it can be fun, especially when mixing.

Ein herrlich milder Rum den man gut nach dem Essen als Nachtisch genießen kann

On the nose there is strong banana, but to taste it's much more subtle - still there nevertheless. Notes of vanilla come through but the taste quickly dissipates leaving the fruit flavours lingering on the nose. I love the story behind the rum and actually would like to cook with this rum and mix it into cocktails more than drink it neat or with a mixer.

The nose smacks you with bananas coated in cocoa powder and brown sugar. Very sweet palate. Bananas, obviously, but more complex than the nose. Cappuccino, vanilla and cola. In the finish the cola notes take over the bananas. It a short finish though. Not terrible. It's syrupy and clogging but I'm sure it would work buried in fruit juice. Nothing on La Hechicera's Banana Rum.

Unsurprisingly, it tastes strongly of banana :-) The nose has a rather fruity banana smell and the same on the palate. A great long drink when mixed with cola, better than expected on its own, but not much to do with rum.

Alcohol not particularly well integrated, overall somewhat artificial after rubber bananas and slightly sour. I was hoping for much more! But super tasty for cocktails and a cool idea with a zero waste background!

So this time, when ordering rum and co, I decided against a bad tasting glass and opted for a SpiritDrink. There's not much to say about this sample: sweet, alcoholic, banana and artificial. For me, it doesn't work at all neat, in an espresso, well. Will end up in the rum drawer for baking.

Unfortunately, the alcohol is surprisingly poorly integrated and the taste is also too sweet. Lots of banana, somewhat artificial in places. Great cocktail ingredient.
