28.02.2020 Had a nice meet up with new rum nerds. Notes. Light in colour. Nose Wood, citrus, pineapple, spice, round. Palate Medium oily, wood, light roasted, citrus, pineapple, herbs, balanced. Finish Long and warm, fruity, citrus, spice.

Amazing young Hampden. The CH marque is perfect. So much presence as soon as you open the bottle. Not even a high ppm Isla whisky can’t keep up the smells this high esters rum brings. I still have the other syster Cask at 62,5% and the 2x11yrs. Amazing stuff there too! Perhaps the coolest rum I’ve in my collection. Young, wild, in your face. Pineapples, nail polish, vineger, lime and lurking in the back sweetness in the form av tutti fruity chuggingumm. These 4 casks where selected by The Whisky Barrel. What a selection! Amazin stuff!!! B: Yes! If you can find a bottle.

WOW! I’ve had in the past an Habitation Velier CH and it was extreme powerful in funk..this one appears to me more tamed, yet absolutely amazing! On the nose, the alcohol is well integrated, allowing you to focus on tropical fruits flavors (pineapple, mango, banana), then some minerals like rocks, then orange jam and flowers in the background! The funk is just another layer of flavors, that adds complexity! On the palate, the alcohol is more present, it tingles your tongue. Again, fruits, the jam is now more like candied orange peel, marzipan, all with the right amount of astringency! Truly a gem, at a way more reasonable price of the HV!

Un superbe Hampden au très bon rapport qualité / prix. Le nez démarre sur une bombe aromatique bien funky, dont la concentration est accrue par le taux d’alcool élevé. Les watts sont là, c’est intense et assez lourd, mais ce parfum embaume toujours aussi bien les narines avec les notes d’esters, de vernis à ongles, de colle et de solvants, avec des fruits exotiques bien mûrs et des fruits rouges fermentés. Le profil s’adoucît beaucoup après aération, ce qui lui fait perdre un peu de son statut de high ester. La vivacité revient en bouche avec une explosion aromatique, qui s’étend des notes fruitées et phénoliques du funk habituel aux fleurs et à l’olive, avec un léger côté pâtissier sur le massepain. L’alcool est très bien intégré. Cette cuvée est plus douce, plus fruitée et abordable que le Flensburg, mais peut-être un peu moins saisissante que cette dernière. La finale est parfumée, sèche et tannique, avec une pointe d’amertume qui se manifeste malgré les esters et les fruits exotiques encore présents en bouche. Un rhum intense à en séduire le diable.

An almost white rum. A nose of varnish, overripe banana and, strangely enough, ham au gratin! The palate oscillates between tropical fruit and fairly pronounced bitterness. Lots of complexity. The finish is very long, and still quite bitter. A very fine rum, I was personally a little bothered by the bitterness, admittedly noble but a little too present, which took away a few points.

An esters driven continentally aged Hampden. On the nose, canned ananas provides the fruity part along with nail polish, with little wood in the end. Drink side, bitter and watery again, still a nice dram though
