Sipped neat, this one hits like a hammer — glue and varnish upfront, then a wave of overripe pineapple, mango and tangerine that keeps coming. The 68% is surprisingly well integrated; several members swear they'd never have guessed the proof. Underneath the ester punch sits marzipan and cookie dough, with oak staying light. A dry, slightly medicinal finish is the only place it loses a little momentum.

100% new Yarmouth DNA. on the nose there is a brutal amount of citrus like tangerine! just awesome, with a little more freshness and more tropical fruits than the other 2 NY from the vintage but the concise cookie dough is still there, albeit a little more in the background as with the other 2 NY of the same vintage 🤤❤️ overall I find this one very wintery with tangerine, macaroon and ginger cookie notes. very cool in any case! absolutely on par with SBS and CDI and depending on which one tastes best on the day. each has its merits!

I love him. 😄 Absolutely awesome NY one of the best ever together with the SBS and the CDI Denmark 2005 my personal reference. Creamy mouthfeel with lots of ester and fruit bomb character. Lots of tropical fruits, marzipan and solvents. An absolute pleasure. Tasted again and definitely found it to be HAMMER GEIL 😍

Together with the SBS 2005 NY, this is a real hit from New Yarmouth. For me, it depends on which of the 05s is ahead, although I would still give SBS a slight edge. Both super bottlings.

Insanely intense release. Straightforward fruit esters, which actually already flatten everything, but still find a pastry-like counterpoint. Can't get much more brachial, at least not in this relative balance. Great.

Fruits in shambles with varnish. An impolite nose but with arguments. The palate is soft in comparison with the nose. Then the power builds, with very ripe fruit but also yellow fruit. The finish is very nice, on yellow fruit with a slight acidity. A very endearing rum, even if it's far from perfect. We'll be back for more!

A grenade. An amazing flavor bomb. Lots of fruit notes. Tangerines, marzipan. The 68% pack a punch but it's worth it. In a suitable glass, even a few cl emit cozy, warm Jamaica scents at half a meter distance. Great.

This one is the hammer, wow. The funny thing I noticed is the nose. Depending on how far the glass is from your nose you'll pick up different flavours. On the table it's fruity but getting closer to your nose the chemical part takes over. The wood is very light actually and mixes very well with the rest. A very intense and well balanced NY in my mind.

A big caliber New Yarmouth 2005. It has a superb nose, striking and elegant, full of ripe tropical fruits (pineapple, banana, mango, passion fruit) that perfume the glass. The esters, along with a touch of chili, add character but the scents of pastries and other honeyed sweets soften the profile on the nose. A great olfactory profile, very balanced and generous. The attack on the palate is warm, spicy, and at the same time very fragrant with an explosion of esters (glue, varnish). The exotic fruits from the nose bring their fragrance while marzipan and caramel add roundness. The 68% is no joke, it’s a manly rum with a strong identity that reveals itself over time. The finish is quite long but loses some of its fruity and pastry aromas in favor of drier and funky notes. The mouth is imbued with medicinal notes and this spicy heat (maybe alcoholic). It's a shame because it leaves a slightly frustrating last impression compared to the exuberant profile depicted by the nose and the entry on the palate. Nonetheless, it remains a very good bottling that made its vintage famous.

Litte NY side-by-side: For the 2005 vintage: on the nose the CDI 12y @55% very much hits more of the chemical notes. Funky with solvents. Very much overpowering fruity and cookie (dough) notes. The 13y CDI brother delivers more on the latter. Still funky with chemicals, but more fruits and a more pleasant nose. Also feels more intense as it is more complex. The full proof GC does the same but declasses the lower ABV CDI‘s on the nose. Brilliant NY profile! The BottleShop clearly shows it’s higher age. Cookie and cake notes with lots of vanilla are dominating here. Yet there is still ample funk and tropical fruits. Powerful and very tastey. Could spent hours with this nose. On the palate the younger CDI stays true to the nose: lots of esters and chemical notes. Some fruits (mango) and some smokiness. A bit weird but interesting. With 55% at good drinking strength while not lacking intensity just as the 13y. Again in the CDI 13y chemical notes are a bit more moderate with more cookie and fruit notes. More pleasing but still intense and funky. I prefer this one out of the CDIs. For the CG full proof again: absolute power house! Very intense with a nice balance of (lots of) funk and cookie and fruity notes. Excellent 2005 NY indeed. On the palate the BS again demonstrates what the 2005 vintage can do with some more time in the cask. More rounded out than the younger bottlings in my lineup but still very intense with ester, funky fruits and even more cookie notes excentuated with more vanilla from the cask. Looking at 2005 vs. 2009 - in general - 2005 brings more funk and esters to the table while 2009 provides even more cookie notes.

And on the second rum of the night from New Yarmouth distillery. Due the high abv, this rum did sit in the glass for awhile before i tasted it. On the nose: Mild ester, glue and good mixture of tropical fruits. Mild buttery pastrie notes. Taste: Intense ester and glue notes upfront. It quikly evolves into more fruity, citrusy palate with almost like creamy mouthfeel into it with little bit of esters in background. Really good stuff! Finish: Tropical fruits with glue and esters upront. Warm mouthfeel. Finishes with tea notes and dry mouthfeel. I really like fruitbombs like this. Recommended!

2005 New Yarmouth from Cave Guildive. Lots of tropical fruits, a bit of citrus (mandarin), marzipan and cookie dough. Alcohol is well integrated. A really nice bottling from the vintage.

Estery. It's like an intense ginger candy. Strong tangerine taste, the cookie notes are a bit subdued. It could be more round, to make it a better sipper. On palate it feels a bit thin at some point you get a mineral layer. A nice one, however not sure I can sip this at length, would probably make some great cocktails, even if it seems to good for that.

The classic intense NY ester-glue nose. Intense and somewhat sharp, biting it comes across. Fruity-bitter mandarin meets overripe pineapple. Spiciness of resin and anise and then the sweetness of honey. Nice. On the palate this typical NY character continues. Intense and nice come the ester and glue notes, right after again the sweet acidity of pineapple and bitter bitterness of citrus fruits. And marzipan! In the finish the glue remains, which turns into sweet-bitter tea with lemon. Strong, intense and beautiful rum.

Nose: Immediately unmistakable New Yarmouth with a fruity ester bomb. Clear glue and nail polish notes, plus tropical fruits and a distinct Jamaica funk. Palate: Very nice esters, banana, and tropical fruit. The initial ester intensity opens up quickly and is complemented by a pleasant sweetness and lighter fruit notes. The alcohol at 68% is sensationally well integrated and barely noticeable as such. Finish: Long, warm, and complex, with a fresh menthol note in the aftertaste. The esters and tropical fruit remain present for a long time. Conclusion: An exceptionally lively, fruity, and ester-rich New Yarmouth, exactly in the style I expect from this distillery. One of the most exciting New Yarmouths I've tried so far.
