Zum Abschluss dann nochmal einen richtigen Kracher, starkes Teil. Ist halt auch übelst röstig, kann die Tags hier nicht nachvollziehen. Sehr viel Kaffe und Espresso, außerdem auch etwas dunkle Schokolade. Top 👌

This is clearly a very old rum, and it shows immediately. From the first nosing, there is a strong wow effect driven by deep, mature oak, polished wood, and an unmistakable sense of long aging. The profile feels calm, settled, and confident, with layers of dry wood, old furniture, subtle spices, and a refined maturity that leaves no doubt about the rum’s age and pedigree. Despite the massive cask strength of 71.412%, the alcohol is remarkably well handled. It is present, of course, but never aggressive or chaotic. Instead, it carries the flavors smoothly, allowing notes of menthol, eucalyptus, dark wood resins, and subtle herbal freshness to emerge. The palate is surprisingly gentle for its strength, with a silky texture and excellent control, showing how well the alcohol has integrated over time. Overall, this is a stunning example of how extreme strength and elegance can coexist. A wood driven, deeply mature rum with incredible balance, where the power is felt but never overwhelming. The mentholated freshness adds lift and complexity, and the alcohol strength becomes an asset rather than a challenge. A great rum, full of character, confidence, and long aging magic.
