A slow, neat sipper that leans more brandy than rum — the port-cask aging shows up in both the nose and the glass. An unshared cask from Savanna for Reunion. The nose is very restrained, even reminiscent of a brandy. Also a bit peppery. On the palate, it's very woody with roasted aromas, dried fruits, especially berries, and dark, very dark chocolate. Everything plays out very composed on the palate, no intrusiveness. This rum wants to take its time. It gets even more time on the very dry, long finish. Very interesting and not typical for Savanna at all.

Nice color! Slightly smoky, tropical and red - is there such a category in the lexicon? - fruits. Balanced could be a bit stronger. On the palate nicely artificial and woody/spicy. Lots of freshly ground black pepper. Long, spicy finish. Not bad, but nothing special either. Also not my type.

30.01.2022 Going through some samples at home. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Balanced, wood, light roasted, fruity, light cherry, faint smoke. Palate Fresh, wood, light roasted, fruity, berries, faint floral, light caramel, medium dry. Finish Medium long, medium dry, wood, faint smoke, light berries, faint smoke.

👃 On the woodiness of grape eaux-de-vie, maybe from Bas-Armagnac. A nice liquid vanilla caramel, a bit dry and woody. Dried fruits (raisins), a bit of cherries in their alcohol, light citrus, peppery spices, cinnamon too. Some notes of turpentine, pine resin, nice typicity. 😋 Caramel mixed with butter and cocoa, quite dry. More spices (pepper, nutmeg, and cinnamon), some freshness from the notes described on the palate, turpentine, resin, almost rosemary-like. I have this impression of fresh nuts but not yet dry. Fruity on dried fruits, maybe a bit of red fruits. ⛳ On a nice dry wood accompanied by fresh vanilla, the grape eaux-de-vie barrel returns, some spices. A balanced edition, complex enough for a good time without reaching high proof. I liked the fresh aspect on the resin and rosemary.

Nose: nicely fruity-woody-spicy. Freshness of citrus fruits plus cherries and red berries. Almost floral. But there’s also something dry with vanilla and something artificial, like wax. Palate: initially spicy, slightly bitter and some fruit, towards cherry and grapefruit. The spice goes towards vanilla and nutmeg, making it a bit woody. Unfortunately a bit flat in the middle, you notice the dilution. There’s better Savanna...

Edit. I probably drank it too early. It's great! Unfortunately, I can't say this Savanna suited me. Fruit on the nose, fruity tones are quite noticeable on the palate right away, but they clash with less integrated alcohol (and there isn't much of it). In the medium-long finish, the alcohol recedes and strawberries appear. That's nice :-)

Rums from the Savanna distillery are among my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-heavy pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.

The nose is very interesting with a slight woodiness and lots of fruit including cherry. The palate is consistent with the nose but quite flat. The almost nonexistent finish really lowers the score.
