8,3:On the nose, port barrel impact, roasted wood notes like caramel, spicy vanilla, various fruits like grapes, berries, dried apricots, raisins, prunes, thick, some polish, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, citrus fruits, hints of pear, melon arise, burnt sugar, sweet Demerara sugar, some confectionery, allspice and flowery molasses, dark with licorice. 7,8:On the palate, the attack is dry, tannic with port barrel impact notes and grapes, cherry, dried fruits, berries, melon, roasted oak notes like caramel, Demerara sugar, toffee, chocolate, nuts, later cocoa, spicy with allspice, anise, vanilla, as the molasses is dark with licorice and black tea. 8:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, port barrel impact is still strong, various sweet fruits pair roasted oak notes, earthy molasses, flowery, dark with black tea..

Unfortunately, not much of the rum is left here. The Ruby Port cask overwhelms everything. Not particularly enjoyable. But you try all the El Dorados... hoping that maybe there will be a new edition of the Rare Collection, which was almost universally excellent. This has nothing to do with that.

Today testing the Last Cask series from El Dorado RX6784 RX13225 RX13396 RX5449 RX3456 and RX6785. Overall quite solid bottlings but unfortunately didn't quite meet expectations. Pricing in my opinion a bit too high.

Intense, partly quite bitter nose and a very intense color. On the tongue, the port comes through very dominantly, along with burnt sugar and influences from the cask that are very astringent and don't really harmonize with the quite intense port note. Overall okay, but not for the price.

On the palate, for my taste, quite sweet. I wouldn't have needed that. Otherwise dense, intense and coherent for me. Good wood influence. Nice warm and long finish. A pleasing rum. The finish is very pronounced here.
