Malecon Rare Proof 2006
Vanilla, oak and a squeeze of orange lead the way, backed by leather and dark chocolate on the palate. It drinks round and noticeably sweet, with the 50.5% barely poking through — most tasters find the strength sits well and keeps things from feeling flat. A few give it 15 minutes of air. Easy Panama-style sipping, though nobody calls it deep or complex.

How does Malecon Rare Proof 2006 taste?
Aggregated from 28 community reviews.
Sweet, round vanilla Panama sipper Well-liked Panama sipper: sweet, round and vanilla-forward with the ABV nicely tucked in. The honest catch is it's not very complex, and a couple find it slightly bitter on the edges.

Malecon is one of my favorite Latin styled rum and this 13yo batch 2 doesn’t disappoint me. Hard to say how it it differs from batch 1. Should have needed a bottle from batch 1 to compare. The nose as well as at the palate it’s fruity and spicy with aroma and flavor of vanilla.

A quality rum at an affordable price! A little bitter around the edges, but highly recommendable.

A great rum looking at the price. The ABV ensures a very good, balanced and well rounded rum. Short to medium finish.

A good rum and very good for the price. The 50 % suites it well.

on the nose, the alcoholic spiciness covers a lot. trorzdem tobacco, dried fruit and roasted aromas are perceptible. on the palate it is then initially very sweet and oily, somewhat covering the alcohol. Tobacco caramel and some smoke taste aner good
