The Rum Mercenary DDL Port Mourant 2005
People mostly land on "good, not great" here. The nose pulls you in — apple, pear, olive-glue and buttery brown sugar — but several find the palate thinner than a 13-year Port Mourant should be, with anise, olive, dried fruit and a peppery, slightly medicinal finish. The cask-strength ABV feels tamed by dilution, which makes it an easy sipper but softens the classic PM markers.

How does The Rum Mercenary DDL Port Mourant 2005 taste?
Aggregated from 28 community reviews.
Easy-sipping Port Mourant, a bit thin A likeable, easy-drinking Port Mourant with the classic anise-and-olive markers, but a few tasters find the body thin and the finish a touch flat for the age.

Very similar to the RomDeLuxe 2005 - but not quite as round and smooth and also not as complex. But the same markers: aniseed, continental fruit, oak, plus a slight mustiness from wet cardboard - the sweet yeast pastry from the RDL is unfortunately missing. The mouth is a little thin with olive and brine and some musty wood just behind the aniseed. As with the RDL, the bitterness is well balanced. The dry finish is unfortunately a little flat with a hint of hay. Overall, a good PM that lacks a little complexity. I would always prefer the RDL.

Excellent rapport qualité-prix.

Easy sipper! Super pm, etwas wenig Prozente, aber macht Spaß!

Entspannter PM, die Verdünnung nimmt die Schärfe raus. Easy Sipper.

This is another good rum considering the price tag and I really like the label on the front :-) The nose is light and fruity with wood, anise, nuts and earthy notes. I also get a very light note of rubber. The palate sweet and oily with fruit and anise as well as light rubber and medicinal notes. The finish is medium long has dried fruit, earthy and medicinal notes.

Easy Sipper. A little too thin for a top rating, but very good value for money!

Conclusion Waw !
