Sip this one slowly and neat — at 66.3% it's a proper cask-strength Hampden, all wild esters, pineapple, banana and varnish over a warm, peppery, lightly dry finish. Several tasters loved the fruit and power; a couple found the tail metallic, sharp or short. A little water opens it, but the wood and heat stay in charge.

Another tasty Hampden. Ester, Jamaican funk, fruit, and an exciting smoky honey note. Unfortunately, the finish is the Achilles' heel of this otherwise great rum. A bit metallic, sharp, and short.

Not my thing. Too bitter, burnt, and glue-heavy, just exhausting to drink. There are better Hampdens; the 92 one is much more pleasant. What bothers me most is this caraway bread note...

Yummy, this is a nice Hampden and the price to quality is very good. The nose is fruity with esters and varnish from the start with caramel and light grass trailing. The palate is well balanced, warm and peppery with wood, fruits, ester and light grass. The finish is very long and warm/peppery with wood and pineapple. The finish is lightly dry, something I really like in this release.

Lacquer, lots of esters, creamy notes, pineapple and red fruits. Powerful alcohol but carries the flavor very well. Sweet, concentrated, with a voluminous bouquet. On the palate creamy, relatively dry, with fine herbal nuances in the background. The finish is dry, long and harmonious. Not for every day, but a tasty and characterful piece. I like it very much. Top representative of continental Hampden rum. Compared to the TRC Beast II, very similar framework data, but aged 8 years less. I like the Nation better because of its power. The TRC is softer.

Very intense and tastefull. The nosing was so much more complex and full of interesting notes than the palate. Alcohol content was to strong for my tastes and I diluted. But still the burning and wood dominated, leaving very little room for other flavours, or maybe they were not there to begin with?

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery, you can smell wild esters, after which your whole body soaks up the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

Of course a bit strong, but you can smell it without burning all your nose hairs. Good full-bodied sweetness in the mouth, with a barrel edge. Coconut, vanilla and wood. Long and dry aftertaste.
