Rum Nation Hampden Small Batch Rare Rums HLCF 1998
Sip this one slowly and neat — at 66.3% it's a proper cask-strength Hampden, all wild esters, pineapple, banana and varnish over a warm, peppery, lightly dry finish. Several tasters loved the fruit and power; a couple found the tail metallic, sharp or short. A little water opens it, but the wood and heat stay in charge.

How does Rum Nation Hampden Small Batch Rare Rums HLCF 1998 taste?
Aggregated from 33 community reviews.
Powerful, fruity Hampden with a hot finish Most rate this a fruity, ester-heavy Hampden with real power and a long peppery finish. The catch is the tail — some call it metallic, sharp or a touch too hot.

Review by Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰
Yummy, this is a nice Hampden and the price to quality is very good. The nose is fruity with esters and varnish from the start with caramel and light grass trailing. The palate is well balanced, warm and peppery with wood, fruits, ester and light grass. The finish is very long and warm/peppery with wood and pineapple. The finish is lightly dry, something I really like in this release.

Very intense and tastefull. The nosing was so much more complex and full of interesting notes than the palate. Alcohol content was to strong for my tastes and I diluted. But still the burning and wood dominated, leaving very little room for other flavours, or maybe they were not there to begin with?
