Hampden Great House (Distillery Edition 2019)

Für mich nach wie vor ein klassischer Allrounder und für mich definitiv besser, intensiver und harmonischer als der second batch. Das Verhältnis zwischen Fruchtigkeit und Würzigkeit ist für mich sehr stimmig, ein klares Manko am Second Batch, der mit sehr viel weniger Ester daher kommt. Vor allem zum damaligen Ausgabekurs, ein klasse PLV

Sehr fruchtig in der Nase. Im Mund etwas zurückhaltender dafür ist der Abgang lang und komplex. Weniger Funk als beim Hampden overproof.

For the original price [90€]an absolute blast. Great Jamaican 🇯🇲 with nice Esther notes. Perfect for the first edition of the Great House.Genial entry into the Esther Hampdens.

Hampden. I have only 1 small sample but I managed to save some for later retaste. Outstanding.

2nd Tasting: Still excellent as a few years ago. Not as wild as the green. Rather more mature and balanced. 3rd Tasting: I like it much better today because of this. Round but still powerful. The prices are crazy, of course. The whole nonsense started with this one.

Always a pleasure to have a great house in the glass. My preference 2020>2019>2021. I enjoyed this in a smal brewery in padova. Very cool location 😜

On the nose, equals the best Hampden I've had so far, drink side it falls a bit short of the expectations, yet it is really interesting. The nose is driven by funk and tropical fruit, with some of the vinagre-like notes that I look for in an Hampden, while the palate is much closer to many Hampden we already knows with no vinagre and fresh ananas juice in Place.

The original Hampden Great House that gave this range its letters of nobility. The nose opens with a profusion of esters and powerful notes of glue, solvents and varnish, as well as a heavy dose of tropical fruit and overripe citrus. This is followed by a pastry touch of marzipan, candied fruit, vanilla and a hint of wood from the barrel. A very pleasant, easy-drinking blend. The attack on the palate takes the funk up a notch, with medicinal notes and flavors of cherry and advanced fermentation. It's fat and opulent on the palate. Despite its power, the juice retains its roundness and mellowness on the palate, making it very drinkable and accessible. The alcohol is also very well integrated. The finish is very long, with lots of citrus, tropical fruit and strong astringency. Wood and spice come to the fore, invigorating what was intended to be a fuller finish. A very "funky" Hampden that is beginning to be the subject of considerable speculation.

Vergleich zwischen 19, 20 und 21: Sehr runder Hampden. Schön fruchtig, aber eher wenig bis mittlere Ester. Weniger Speck und nicht buttrig im Vergleich zum 20er. Im Abgang würzig.

Vorab: Vielen Dank an Rodolphe, der diesen Split ermöglicht hat. Als erster der Great House Reihe ist dieser Rum leider ein Opfer seines Erfolges und kaum bezahlbar. PLV stimmt hier also ganz sicher nicht 😂 Im Vergleich zu den drei anderen der Reihe kommen hier die Steinfrucht/Marzipan Noten am stärksten heraus. Ansonsten auch hier ein super zugänglicher aber dennoch mega leckerer Blend aus High- und Low-Ester Hampdens. Für alle, die ihn moch nicht probieren konnten: er schmeckt natürlich nicht exakt wie die drei anderen, ist aber von der Qualität ungefähr gleich und kommt dem 2020 geschmacklich am nächsten und bleibt dabei etwas frischer. Meine gedankliche Assoziation war, dass jemand einen kleinen schluck Monymusk in dem 2020 GH gekippt hat 😂

schöner ausgewogener Hampden

Für mich einfach ein geiler Blend, der Hampden verspricht und Hampden liefert. Weniger Ester als manch andere Abfüllung, bringt er doch den typischen Charakter in Mund und Nase. Dabei bleibt er jedoch fast schon dezent und angenehm und erfordert weniger Aufmerksamkeit als andere Aushängeschilder aus Hampden, die es am Gaumen zu zähmen gilt. Im Vergleich zu Edition 2020 ist er jedoch deutlich wilder und hat mehr Ecken und Kanten.

Velmi pěkná Jamajka, ovocitější než Great House 2020, ten pro mě ale zůstává o malý kousek vepředu v souboji nej GH. V chuti i vůni klasický Hampden, škoda aktuální ceny, která vyjadřuje spíš sběratelskou hodnotu.
