01.06.2019 Had a nice meet up at this Nordic Rum Fest where we brought some of our own bottles. Notes. Dark in colour. Nose: fresh, fruity, banana, overripe, light glue, light smoke. Palate: wood, light roasted, plum, dried fruit, light rubber, spice. Finish: light wood, coconut, light smoke, light rubber.

A beautifully rich nose, a spicy, powerful, fruity mouthfeel and a finish that softens on a pastry, gourmet and smoky side. The presence of the barrels (Rye Whisky / Bourbon) is well present and comes to mix with the WP aromas, all with elegance and balance. A very nice work !

A surprising and very woody rum close to the style of a fourthsquare. A nose worthy of the best rums that exist. A finish that sticks well and with a wood-leather ensemble is enhanced by a beautiful gourmandise.

A bomb of power that nevertheless stays on the correct side of the line between alcohol and flavor. It is strong, no doubt, but in a good way. Nose: Banana! Really full of yellow banana. One of the best WP noses I've encountered so far. It took me several samples and bottles of this brand before I found the "real" olfactory profile and here it is in its full splendor. Magnificent. Palate: It's always the same for me with WP. I would have thought much more would hide behind the first attack. It's good and pleasant and even at 66% not too strong but between the opening and the long finish it lacks a bit of depth and variation. The center of the profile is just a bit... monovarietal. It's a pity, with more complexity it would play in the big leagues. Conclusion: Magnificent nose, quality attack and finish, surprisingly well-balanced alcohol level, but lack of complexity and depth in the very important middle of the profile. That said, it remains one of the best WPs I've tasted.

Ferroni Worthy Park 2010 – 66.2% And yes, on this day when all Jamaica holds its breath, hard not to talk about one of its worthy representatives! Distilled in 2010 at Worthy Park, it first aged 7 years under tropical climate in bourbon barrels, then spent an additional year in rye whisky barrels at Ferroni for a cask strength bottling at 66.2%. And here, surprise: I who just criticized whisky finishes, here it works! The finish remains discreet and well integrated, and the result is frankly successful. You find a true Jamaican, with the little extra from Ferroni's work, which brings remarkable overall balance. It's a new concept: funky-balanced. The alcohol is surprisingly well controlled; without being a revolutionary WP, it's a very good representative of the style, classic fruit-wood, guaranteed pleasure at tasting.

Nose: Unusually restrained for a Jamaican. Banana, vanilla and spicy aromas. Palate: short, fruity start, then pepper takes over and a solid alcohol presence follows. Then slightly sweet notes before it turns woody and bitter. Finish: long, warm, peppery, until the honey slowly takes over. Conclusion: Not a very exciting nose, too peppery and not very fruity in taste and no sign from the finish. There are better Jamaicans!
