Barbancourt Rum Artesanal Haiti Rum 2004
Give it 30 minutes in the glass and it wakes up into a proper fruit bomb — mango, mandarin, dried apricot over cut grass, licorice and dark cocoa. One member sips it neat as a "Fruchtbombe," others knock a point off because the 58.9% heat isn't always tucked away cleanly. Cane-juice Barbancourt with real vegetal, mineral character.

How does Barbancourt Rum Artesanal Haiti Rum 2004 taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Grassy, fruity Haitian cask-strength sipper Most tasters land around 8/10: fruity, grassy and dry with licorice and cocoa. The recurring gripe is that the alcohol sometimes bites, and a few wanted more depth.

Clearly different from the Rum Cask. Banana and a certain creaminess on the nose. I find the alcohol so-so integrated. But finally some variation compared to the usual profiles. I like it!! For me, also one point better than the Rum Cask because simply more happens in the mouth. The nose on the Rum Cask is clearly better.

On the nose, caramel, honey, vanilla, and some brown sugar show up. On the palate, the sweet profile continues with toffee, candied fruits, and subtle wood notes. Overall, the rum feels balanced and easy to drink but develops little depth and complexity for my taste. The finish is marked by a noticeable alcoholic sharpness that accompanies the sweetness and costs some length.

7,9:On the nose, the first impression we get is fruity with citrus/lemon peel, dried apricots and roasted wood, caramel, vanilla. They are yellow, coming from bourbon barrel ageing. When aired, it becomes thicker, buttery, spicy, there are vegetal notes as hay, flowers, mint and herbs. Some tropical fruits with mango appear. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is fruity and spicy with tropical, yellow fruits, becomes woody, dry, the sugar cane is mineral and honeyed. There are vegetal notes with olive, grass and mint. After well rested, some metallic notes crawl in, the wood is roasted, there is some licorice, cocoa and brown sugar. Tasty apricot and lemon peel also join the teater. 8,1:The finish is long with honeyed and mineral sugar cane, woody, dry and fruity with citruses, yellow fruits and banana, vegetal with mint. Edit:15.5.26

Nice aromas. However, I find the alcohol not so well integrated. So it bites a bit.

Yeah, the RA is really great. Nice nose with subtle notes of vanilla and caramel. On the palate also vanilla and caramel, also slightly dry, but super tasty. Alcohol very well integrated. Thanks to Dr. Django for this sample.

Nice and fruity. However, the alcohol should have been a bit better integrated for a top rating.

Thanks to Oli for the tip to let it stand, absolute hammer what a fruit bomb develops here!💯 For me currently still one of the best Barbancourts on the market.

After 30 minutes, the rum really takes off. 🚀

Very nice rum despite a slightly too present spicy side. Lacks just a little bit of sweetness, probably due to the herbal side.

19th day in the Christmas calendar. Blind! You have to have had it in the glass to get to Haiti... Biting-fresh and fruity-floral-spicy on the nose, freshly cut grass, slightly woody-resinous, mandarin and some cherry. Slightly vinegary but also somehow buttery. Menthol is also present. On the palate initially spicy fresh, saffron or so. The slightly sweet-green sugarcane comes through. A not easy to define fruitiness, maybe a hint of cherry? Then clearly licorice or anise. Slightly bitter licorice remains in the finish. Nice flavor profile.

Rounded, full taste, but... come on - I dont like this destination rum profile...

Positively surprised, a little alcoholic, but otherwise very tasty, with slightly fruity hints, hidden behind floral notes. Like most rums from the house RA worth a purchase.

Tasted with its 18-year-old brother. This one, after opening up, is a bit more floral and flowery. Taste-wise, I see it slightly ahead of its brother, who drifts a bit too much into bitterness for me; in the end, it's a tie at a high level.

Verdict: dry, slightly peppery and clearly dark cocoa. With subtle honey sweetness to the pleasant drinking strength. However, a little complexity is missing.

Vintage 2004. With 8.0 out of 10, it is a very good bottle, though not the top of my ranking.

Strong and intense. Oak on the finish and nice aromas. Quite sweet but tasty. No special flavor note. You can buy it.
