A softer, sweeter Caroni than most, and that's the whole conversation here. The rubber and tar are there on the attack, but honey, dried fruit and orange zest round it off fast — several tasters call it delicious yet a little less "dirty" than the Velier bottlings. At 58.9% it stays warm rather than harsh, with a finish that runs on for ages. One member found it lacks a touch of depth to hit the very top.

Tasted at Rhum Fest 2025 and with family, bottle open. 👃 Very hydrocarbon but paradoxically not as dirty as that. Certainly the floral and licorice aspect has something to do with it; honey, brioche, butter, spices, blond tobacco, licorice, leather. Stewed fruits (citrus, orange zest), dried fruits (white grapes), orchard fruits (apricots), even tropicals. Various essential oils. A complete and exciting nose. 😋 Burnt caramel, salty tar, essential oils. Candied fruits, cinnamon apple, quince, light exotic fruits. Spicy, damp wood, pepper, vanilla. Empyreumatic roasted oilseeds, cigar tobacco, light smoke. Accompanying menthol veil. ⛳ Between medium and long, opposition between the freshness of garden mint, tobacco, green tea and the empyreumatic of rubber, tar, oils. Salty walnut note. 💡 A vintage not as common as 98/97, not as masterful as the 96s, but interesting all the same. Makes you want to discover other Caroni 99s.

A Caroni with an original profile to say the least: apart from the initial hydrocarbons, one feels mostly fruits (apricot, orange peel and dried fruits), tobacco, grass, spices, honey, caramel and chocolate. Quite sweet and confusing for a Caroni. The attack on the palate starts with hydrocarbons before melting into spices, tobacco, vanilla and tropical fruits. A slightly smoky profile but still smooth. The finish is quite long, dipped in rubber, some tar, a hint of saltiness, earthy and fresh notes of grass and tobacco. A roasted and bitter feel comes through. A different profile from Caroni, well integrated but slightly lacking in depth to be top notch.

First tasting! A honeyed, fragrant hydrocarbon, very different from veliers but delicious. The rubbery side is slightly felt on the attack, mixed with dried fruit and honey, which gives it a slightly oily side that's much appreciated, and comes back more markedly on the finish.

At a very decent price, a real Caroni with character. Salty, ultra rubbery, but still a nice fruity molasses, a hint of vanilla, a powerful woodiness but without drying out, and some notes of tobacco and nuts. Thanks Clara & Jacques 😘

Simply magnificent! Crazy aromatic power that stays on the palate for hours. Opened in good company, everyone was unanimous: a real pleasure with every sip. This is already my 5th cuvée from Bullion, and it's the perfect addition to my selection of wines to share with friends. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on a bottle, or even a few centilitres, go for it, you won't be disappointed!
