Sipped neat, this drinks well beyond its four years — young oak and pepper up front, floral and citrus notes trailing into a spice-driven finish that runs surprisingly long. Fresh sugarcane keeps it clearly agricole. Several tasters swear it reads like a six-year-old rum. The main gripe: at 44% a few wish it hit harder, one flat-out calling it "too watery."

I'm really amazed at how much flavour this one has looking at the relative young age. Fresh and fruity with spices and wood. A very wall balanced and rounded rum. Would have loved to try it at a higher ABV. Price to quality is very good.

Just not really my profile, but it's okay, what can I say. Anyway, it's a really delicious Agricole, spice and a slight sweetness are definitely noticeable. There are definitely worse rums than this one...

Another great neisson. Quite young but already well rounded and very intense despite low abv. On the nose young wood mixes with floral notes and some cappuccino too. When drinking the wood and spices are in first places, the flowers come out in the end before the pretty long aftertaste spices driven. EDIT: I bought a bottle and retasting it made me increase the score a bit.

Neisson VSOP 2015 – 44% Released for the 88th anniversary of the distillery, only available on site, this rum aged nearly 5 years (07/09/2015 → 04/16/2020) before being bottled at 44% – that is 88 US proof, a nod to the anniversary. Limited run of 1200 copies. Next to it, a little sister marketed by LMDW, with an atypical aging: 4 months in new barrel (profile 105) 2 and a half years in ex-Bourbon 2 and a half years in ex-Cognac A high-level VSOP, perfectly balanced and representative of the Martinique terroir. We just regret a slight lack of indulgence and length. As often with Neisson, the price remains high (a Saint James VSOP goes for around €30...), but when you love it... And anyway, it's already impossible to find. 👉 Personally, I preferred the distillery version to the LMDW one.
