This 14-year Bielle from Marie-Galante leans oaky and roasted — mocha, licorice, leather and black tea, with dried apricot and a little fruit peeking through. At 54.6% the alcohol sits surprisingly well. One taster called it the driest, most tannic of the whole set; another said you can sit with the glass forever and keep finding notes.

Moving on, awesome, really insane this set. The second or third in the excellent range. This one is very toasty, wood/barrel and spices are recognizable here, also a bit of leather. We have one more :-)

Rhum Bielle LMDW 2001 X-Tasting: A unique set that Daniel dug up here. Over time this rum becomes more and more complex, the aromas more intense. You can feel like sitting at the glass forever and discover new aromas! This one is particularly dry which is not negative though. Alcohol really perfectly integrated!

Bielle 2001 No. 9 On the nose, this release is a bit fruitier and less spicy. Dried apricot immediately comes to mind. On the palate, besides this fruit, clear mocha, licorice and wood aromas appear. This harmonizes excellently. The finish is then more on the woody-spicy side again. Top.

12.12.2020 Nice tasting at a local bar with all new rummies. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, complex, balanced, fruits, light citrus, floral, light vegetal, clove. Palate Warm, oily, complex, elegant, light wood, dried fruit, light citrus, tobacco, oily, faint licorice, elegant, light floral. Finish Long, light wood, fruits, dried fruit, complex, balanced, elegant.

Epic BIELLE 2001 tasting. A great vintage, the set was consistently high quality. Only RX5741 and RX4918 were a bit too woody/bitter for me. There was also a clear winner, the cask selected by Kirsch was for me the most intense, most harmonious. Here was a perfect mix of wood, fruit and spices. The blend is also great, but at 45% it suffers a bit on the palate. Overall I think the highest quality set I have tasted and I believe you will never get this again.

"Great Bielle 2001 Cross-Tasting": by far the woodiest, driest and most bitter in the line-up so far. You really have to like that. Overall significantly less complex but with much more tannins. The nose actually promises sweet peach caramel notes but on the palate rather very bitter, woody and strong. For me personally the weakest in the line-up so far! 🫣 Either way, complaining on a high level! 😂
