Very nice buttery esters, fermented fruit and subtle sweetness on the nose. Honey sweetness on the palate at first, then some buttery esters, young wood and minimal allspice. Creamy and soft on the palate. ABV at a good drinking strength. The finish is medium long with a little more spice and tannins. Re-tasting at Dr. Django: Sticking with my assessment, but lowering it from 9.0 to 8.9

A solid, creamy, fruity easy sipper Long Pond from Rum Artesanal. The VRW mark is great, but here it is very restrained. This rum is very tasty, but compared to the Long Ponds from 2005 (Rom Deluxe or Habitation), it's worlds apart.

Exceptional Long Pond. A sweet fruitiness meets a light smokiness. Creamy soft, with pastry notes that I would almost put in the New Yarmouth corner. Almost unusually round for Long Pond, perhaps even lacking a little effervescence. But all in all, I think it's a lovely bottling!

8,7:On the nose, the first impression we get is estery with tropical, citrus fruits like pineapple, banana, woody, as it is charred and the molasses is vegetal.There are delicious notes of sweet pastry, glazed with honey and caramel. On aeration, more baking spices, nuts arise and some mango. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is spicy with anise, vanilla, green pepper,estery with tropical fruits, there is some strawberry, green apple is tasty, the wood is charred and dry with caramel, nuts. After resting, bourbon notes are stronger with yellow, citrus fruits and dried figs.The molasses is vegetal, some sap crawls in, grass...We are tasting a very delicious rum, with sweet toffee and marzipan, round and balanced. 8,8:The finish is long, fruity, woody and dry, spicy, copy/paste from the palate, it quickly becomes earthy...Tasty. Edit:24.1., a 0,1 higher.

Tasted in parallel with some tropical aged VRWs that have a completely different profile. Personally, I like the tropical aged LPs much more. Still, I like this continental LP quite well too. Nice creamy/oily mouthfeel.

A beautiful potpourri of butteriness, creaminess, subtle smoke, marzipan, light peppery notes, esters and tropical fruits. The finish is medium to long with a bitter note that I don't quite like. But that's complaining on a high level. A solid and good Long Pond.

And then a Long Pond from Dr. Django afterwards. I really find this one really awesome, typical Jamaica profile. Many (fermented) tropical fruits like banana and pineapple. Also good ester content on the palate :)

Nice creamy LP, where you don't notice the alcohol content at all (I assume the bottle wasn't opened ages ago). Delicious buttery esters and tropical fruits; here more banana than pineapple. Vanilla and caramel complement each other very nicely on the palate.

Nose Medium intense, wood, light roasted, spice, fruits, light citrus, ester, light caramel, dried fruit, faint marzipan. Palate Oily, wood, faint smoke, dried fruit, medium dry, peppery, mango, light marzipan, faint honey, apple, ester. Finish Oily, wood, ester, light marzipan, light citrus, light apple, faint salt. Empty glass Light caramel, vanilla, light chocolate, light marzipan, orange.

On the nose: Esther, sweet overripe pineapple with little bit of fermented notes and touch of spices in there. Balanced and the abv is integrated very well. Taste: Ester, overripe pineapple, little bit of banana. Vanilla. Spices. Little bit of anise. Balanced. This is not a ester bomb and the body is nicely round. The abv is integrated very well. Finish: Barrel notes. Ester notes. Pineapple. Dry and getting bitter towards the end. The palate doesn't really blow you away, but it still sits in a nice spot in terms of roundness and esthers and that makes this a good sipper.

A fine and soft nose. Very round and balanced. Delicate fruit esters and nice overripe sweet banana. Honey sweet and creamy toffee. Spicy with anise and vanilla. Very nice. The palate confirms the nose. Nicely balanced with subtle estery notes, some banana, more pineapple this time. Toffee again with vanilla and anise. Spicy leathery finish. Anise to the tea. Totally nice LP with very good balance zw. ester, fruit, sweetness and spice.

Both on the nose and on the palate, the esters are present first, although they quickly move to the background when the cask kicks in. However, a few young woody tannins are added to the fruity-spicy mix, which provide some astringent notes. This is followed by a long and spicy-roasty finish that misses the fruits a bit but otherwise really pleases me.

Great Long Pond! Nice fruity ester on the nose, mild and balanced. I also got a bit of gauze. Taste-wise top. A rum that doesn't overwhelm you. Fruit, wood, and spice in a fine mix, delicious.

The color - yellow to light brown. The nose - esters from Jamaica- Ilit reminds me Hamden Great House..after few minutes in glass- esters, wood, fruits…and the glue I really like. The taste little bit of everything- funky esters, sweet marzipan, touch of wood and fruity tones- like lemons. I really like the balance between alcohol and taste- it’s strong but not too much. The finish is medium, but even after few minutes I still feel the taste. To sum it up, that’s the sort of rum I like..

On the nose a restrained fruit salad of pineapple, banana and (rum) grape with chocolate. Very balanced, without edges, almost a bit boring. Barrel aromas and spice very subtle. Long on the palate. Nothing that excites greatly, but something you can enjoy daily. Balanced in the best sense. Great low ester Long Pond. "And for all the nights I missed, because the whiskey (rum) stole them away..."

super weird, the nose promises something completely different than the taste delivers. I had hoped for something more fruity, fatter and full-bodied. overall too sweet and also too bitter and sour for me personally. nevertheless a very exciting and fairly priced drop!

25-07-2024 Blind tasting with 8 different rums. This Long Pond was very good. Not like the Cambridge 2005 13 years. More well rounded and well integrated. Missing a little Long Pond power 😉

Der Rum benötigt viel Zeit, um sich zu öffnen. Dann Keksteig, etwas Frucht und Ester, hinten raus dann karamellige Süße. Alkohol ist gut eingebunden. Ein entspannter Long Pond, mir persönlich sagen jedoch die stark esterhaltigen LP eher zu.

2-3 Jahre altes Sample. Stunde im Glas. Zieht ölige Schlieren. Ester kaum wahrnehmbar. Keine alkoholische Schärfe. Am Gaumen ebenso verhalten. Die typischen Jamaika-Marker sind vorhanden. Keks, Obst, aber alles nicht berauschend. Etwas Kräuterigkeit, aber mehr so unbekannte Heilkräuternote, als Gartenkräuter. Dafür ein schönes, öliges Mundgefühl, schöner Abgang, ohne jegliche Schärfe, dafür recht kurz. Wenn's heut noch ne Flasche zu schnappen gibt, ist sie ihren Preis wahrscheinlich nicht wert.

This is really, really up my alley. I love the long conitental aged long ponds that get this butteric acid aroma. This does a lot, admittely without being overly complex, so it does not goes up to the 90s. but as easy sipping this is a machine.
