La Confrérie du Rhum Longueteau Single Cask XO 2014
"For the price this is a great rum," one member sums up — and the crowd mostly agrees on the glass itself. The nose stays subtle: lime, sugarcane, apricot and vanilla, more elegant than loud. The palate turns firmer and woodier — oak, coffee, cocoa, pepper and a cognac-cask edge, with the grassy agricole side coming through on a long, fresh finish.

Woody cognac-cask agricole, subtle nose, firm palate Well-liked and balanced, though several tasters find the palate a touch alcoholic and less deep than the nose promises — and more than one calls it dear for what it is.

For the price this is a great rum. The nose is very fruity with cognac, spice and sugarcane. The palate is well balanced between wood, tannins and fruits trailed by spice, sugarcane as well as a peppery note and a slight vegetal note. The finish is long and fresh with wood, berries and spices.

A rum similar to Reimonenq 9 ans cuvée prestige, but less fruity and with more wood influence. A fruity nose with strawberries, mango and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, there's more oak and fruit. Not very deep and diluted. A pity. The herbaceous finish takes over.

This Longueteau from the Esperance distillery in Guadeloupe was in slot #20 in my 2025 advent calendar. It’s a single cask that’s made from blue cane grown at plot no 11 that was aged for 6 years in ex-cognac casks and bottled in 389 bottles. The nose is round, fruity, floral and fresh with scents of lime, apricot, pear, sugarcane and vanilla. At the palate it’s elegant, round, balanced, woody, roasted, spicy and fruity with flavors of oak, coffee, cocoa, nougat, pepper, cognac and vanilla. The finish is long, round, spicy, woody and fruity with flavors of pepper, ginger, oak and pear.

Honey nougat with coffee and lime makes for a rather interesting taste. The finish is unfortunately slightly alcoholic.

Rather closed nose, but all the more fiery on the palate. Nice profile, but without the great complexity. Solid in the best sense of the word.
Review by Daniel Kennste Doch
In the nose fresh grassy notes, a lot of orange, some coffee. In the mouth much more powerful than the rather restrained nose suggested, clear brandy notes, coffee, nice long finish, unfortunately a bit too alcoholic.
Review by Rhum Mirror 🇧🇪
The nose is not ultra expressive and concentrated but rather subtle and precious. There are beautiful woody notes, vanilla, and dried fruits (almonds). It's rather fresh; blindfolded I would have said a rum younger than 6 years, the cane and lime are still present. A touch of sweetness with honey makes it quite indulgent. This nose is rather fine and elegant. On the palate, it's less indulgent, the woodiness is less delicate to my taste. There is a rather disturbing bitterness. You find notes of roasting, cocoa, and spices. I find a touch of Fiji in there.
