People rate this one high and mostly agree it's excellent — the recurring line is it sits a hair behind the Velier version of the same 1980 but still delivers. Expect a dark, heavy agricole: quiet on the nose, then deep walnut-and-oak on the palate, oily and creamy, with caramel and syrup arriving on a very long, dry finish. The 60% is beautifully integrated, never harsh.

Tasting evening at Dr. Django: And then there's the step up from the 80s Damoiseau's. Once again much more intense, more aromatic; but not even unpleasant... It is creamy and intense on the palate and has a long finish... wonderful

Great color Relatively subtle on the nose, like many high-class agricoles. Deep, dark walnut on the palate, almost walnut-like. Opens up more and more over time. Caramel and more syrupy consistency on the finish. Long finish of a great rum.

An older tasting from 2000 where I have the following notes. Beautiful colour, intense, complex and fruity with spices and cherries on top. Oily on the palate and very long finish. Bought a bottle at the tasting and it's long gone 😊

And again such a great old rum. This Damoiseau 1980 is really very tasty. But in direct comparison slightly different from the Velier bottling. A top rum I'd love to have a bottle of.

A great Damoiseau just a step below the pick from Velier but still amazing. Woody, dried fruits (banana mainly), nuts on the nose, oily and intense in the mouth with great alcohol integration. One of the best rum ever

Slightly heavier and less floral than the Velier representative, but also with fantastic alcohol integration and great complexity. Overall, for me a touch behind the Velier, but could also depend on the day.

Oh wow, such an enormous intensity. Damoiseau turned up to eleven, spices and wood complex and selweet, some maritime palate at times. Lovely
