Worthy Park Doctor Bird Jamaica Rum
"Surprisingly banana forward" is how one member sums it up, and that lands: overripe banana, mango and a glue-and-ester funk from Worthy Park's pot still, bottled at 50%. Several call it the closest thing to Smith & Cross but softer to drink. The catch shows up on the palate, which more than one taster found thinner and more spirit-forward than the big nose promises.
- Big funky nose
- Banana and mango
- Great in cocktails

Aggregated from 46 community reviews.
Funky banana Jamaican, best in cocktails The nose wins everyone over — banana, glue, tropical funk — but opinions split on the palate, which some find creamy and fruity and others call thin or clinical. A favorite for mixing.

Moved to MI and picked this up at the local grocery store to compare with Smith & Cross. A lovely, spicy, fruity selection from WP that certainly fits the same bill as S&C for cocktails and is also great neat; at 50%, it’s a little softer on the palate neat.

mega intense fruity nose, taste unfortunately somewhat exhausting and sourish. have I hoped for more of...

Worthy Park Distillery. Champagne color, very clear. Shows a very young rum that hasn't spent long in barrels. Very fruity and funky on the nose, with a hint of white wine (moscatel finish). On the palate, pineapple, mango, banana, an industrial funkiness, a light burn but not aggressive. The finish is not very long, adding spice to the very ripe fruit and a subtle touch of white wine. For the price, a very good alternative to Smith&Cross, I find it better integrated, fruitier and less burn/ethanol.

I’ve never been much a fan of the Jamaican Funkyness of rum, and this to me is the epitome of Jamaican funkiness. I think the funkiness just overpowers any other flavors and drowns out any of the more subtle notes. With that being said, it’s a smooth rum which is nice. If you are into the Jamaican funk, this is for you.

Not as funky as expected. Surprisingly banana forward. Delicious daiquiri
Review by Kayla Roy
Not for everyone, but certainly for me. I enjoy this rum neat and in a daiquiri. It plays wonderfully with citrus fruits. A little warm and funky smelling, but certainly not in a bad way.

Nice one. Strong WP funk on the nose. Creamy and fruity on the palate.

Absolutely brilliant mix rum. Great Jamaica notes, a little ester and really fun in Mai Tai. Can also be enjoyed neat if necessary, but really great for 28$.

Outstanding nose but sadly this rum fails to deliver in the mouth. Flat and thin. Thank you for the sample Adrian.

I picked up this bottle because I was curious what a strong funky rum tasted like. Honestly I was a little afraid before I tasted it because of some online reviews I’ve read that mentioned “gasoline” etc. In the first couple sips I wasn’t sure, but ever since then it’s the only rum I can think about. I blew through my first bottle in a week. Amazing nose and big round smooth taste. It’s my favorite in a mai tai split 50-50 with an aged blend. I have since blind tasted it with Smith & Cross and it was no contest. This won hands down due to how smooth it is and its comparitive lack of harshness.

This rum is very pungent, I can pick up the aroma from a few feet away. It has that classic Jamaican funk with banana and esters. These notes carry into the palate and fade into a medium finish with acidity and fruit. A good option to add some funk to your cocktails.

Incredible nose. Overripe banana and aromatic floral notes. Explosive taste and palate
Review by Henry Davies
A young and vibrant nose. Just nosing gets me excited and I want to dive in. Classic Jamaica notes all around. The mouth is a bit of a step down, more spirit forward and clinical with metallic notes that are excentuated on the finish. Unfortunately the nose is the best bit, more pepper and metal as you spend more time. It might work as a mixing rum and I appreciate the full body from the 100 abv but it is not a bottle I would purchase myself

A delicious if somewhat young tasting room. I love the Moscatel finish. Makes a fantastic mixed drink.

This is almost as good as S&C and is just a great bargain Jamaican rum. This is also an always bottle. I will rebuy.

Nose: Industrial glue Deeply Nutty Lime Straw Vanilla Pallet: Peppery 🥭 mango Vanilla Industrial glue nuttiness Very faint pear Mouth is slightly oily but ends quick. Remains very dry and hot. Remind me of Smith N Cross but I can’t sip that like I can this.

Didn’t know this is a Two James product from my home town of Detroit, Michigan! Jamaican pot distilled but barreled in the states. It’s mega funky. Great for adding effect to tropical drinks!
