Poured neat is where this Neisson belongs — a sipper, not a mixer. The nose leans pastry-sweet (crème brûlée, warm macarons, vanilla, almond) before the palate turns spicy and fresh: cinnamon, pepper, bitter orange, dark chocolate with a fine thread of oak. At 57.3% the alcohol sits remarkably well-integrated, and the finish runs unusually long for an agricole. Several tasters rate batch 1 and 2 slightly higher.

By far not as distinctive as the previously tasted l'Esprit 70%.This is wonderfully round and still shows its origin from sugar cane juice.The nose is restrained with a wide range of fine flavors, freshness and fruit have the upper hand.On the palate then just the other way around, here predominate spice and wood slightly. The aftertaste is a long-lasting continuation of the taste experience.One of the best Agricole Rums, which I have tried so far, unfortunately very expensive - if at all to get.

Not much to say, this is Neisson and they really know how to make high end rums. A very fruity and warm/spicy palate with am extremely long finish. Complex and very well rounded.

Surprisingly sweet Agricole, especially on the nose you could almost think of coconut macaroons fresh from the oven. Taste then very spicy, fresh and intense after cocoa nibs with sea salt, bitter orange with honey, yellow stone fruit like mirabelle plums, dark chocolate with cinnamon, some mint and just the right amount of wood. Alcohol is very well integrated and the finish is unusually long for an Agricole! Horny stuff...!

Usual Neisson quality. Strong, little wood aging, slightly sour, especially complex citrus notes. Needs a while to breathe, nice nose. Warm, spicy, herbal on the palate. Then goes into a nice finish. Nice Neisson, but I found Batch #2 more enjoyable.

Typical Neisson nose!! A mix of spices, crème brûlée, wood that makes you salivate. On the palate it's delicious!! Powerful and balanced and you can tell you'll enjoy it throughout the tasting. Spices, wood, cinnamon, citrus and a hint of dark chocolate, all perfectly dosed! A big thrill

👃 Pastry scents of freshly baked macarons. Vanilla, almonds, caramelized sugarcane, mild spices (pink peppercorns?), frangipani flowers. The fruits evolve throughout the tasting. Mainly candied citrus (orange, kumquat), dried fruits (dried apricot), orchard and tropical fruits. A nose with beautiful indulgence, complex and a finely nuanced woodiness. 😋 I have candied orange peels coated in dark chocolate, a delight. The woodiness remains fine and elegant and a bit more present than on the nose. Baked vanilla, spices, a bit of pepper, cinnamon. The distillery's know-how is found in all sorts of variations around sugarcane. Honeyed, unrefined brown sugar, beeswax, a veil of wax or varnish. Roundness, intensity, woodiness. The kind of palate I love in Neisson. ⛳ The finish is an excellent highlight of this tasting. Indulgence of fresh and candied citrus coated in bitter dark chocolate, spices, vanilla. 💡 Really a very good Neisson, a reference. Typical of the distillery, elegant, complex, finesse of aromas. I would like to find this profile in other Martinique rums but those often have too pronounced woodiness and that damp wood humidity that I often don't appreciate.

An expressive rum, very spicy, with a marked honeyed note. The alcohol is quite well integrated but you feel it a bit more than in batch 1 for example. It's very good but not my favorite XO FP.

Another amazing Neisson, the profile is clearly the distillery one with wood, spices (cumin, pepper) and a sweet side with vanilla and caramel. When drinking, some agrumes show up, Tangerine and bitter Orange.

Super strong nose ! Very impressive - fills the nose with nice aromas - green, thick , fresh. Taste is a bit spicy but still fresh. Quite long. Really enjoyable!

So far I haven't really warmed up to Agricole, so it was time for a little cross-tasting again. 1. RX7238 (Neisson Full Proof): Overall more on the fresh/fruity side. Alcohol very well integrated -> 8.5/10. 2. RX10968 (St. James V&B): I especially like the nose here with the subtle glue note, tropical and dried fruits. On the palate then clearly spicier/roastier and slightly bitter -> 8.6/10. 3. (RX1146) La Mauny: Quite sweet on the nose, with lots of caramel, roasted nuts and vanilla. On the palate initially a floral note, then spices and wood dominate -> 8.5/10. 4. RX2216 (Kill Devil Bellevue 1998): On the nose mint, chocolate and some smoke. On the palate also chocolate and mint, plus wood, caramel, some tropical fruits and leather. This was my favorite in taste. -> 8.7/10. 5. RX6221 (Karukera Velier 70th): For me the most "agricole" on the nose. Unlike the other representatives in the tasting, I can tell right away on the nose that it is an Agricole. Typical fresh, grassy notes, sugarcane and unfortunately also a slightly musty note I detect. Also on the palate for me quite floral/flowery/grassy. -> 7.9/10

The nose is honeyed. You find vanilla but especially caramel/crème brûlée! All sprinkled with a hint of fruitiness (tropical fruits: papayas – figs, peach). The nose is balanced, leaning towards freshness. On the palate, the attack is very smooth like a velouté. Spices (cinnamon), wood, chocolate, and citrus are on the program. It’s long on the palate with a more vegetal profile, very fresh and pleasant. Conclusions: it's a beautiful product, clearly among the top old agricoles. It is a worthy representative of this Martinique terroir.

On the nose fruit, roasted hazelnuts, citrus, chocolate, spices and a mixture of creme brulee/vanilla/sweet. On the palate the characteristic roasted hazelnuts, roasted cashews, slight forest, spices including pepper, vegetable, citrus and a hint of sweetness. Intense and persistent finish, perfectly integrated ABV, extremely round and very drinkable. In the glass empty wood and red fruit. A little gem of refinement
