Blind, a few tasters swore this was whisky, not rum — malt, cereal, yellow fruit, all from cane juice on Mauritius. The nose leans exotic: papaya, mango, ripe banana over vanilla and caramel. On the palate it turns woody and spiced, cinnamon and sugarcane running underneath. At 45% it stays gentle and easy, though a couple find the oak takes over.

A very fine, independent rhum that cannot conceal its sugar cane juice origins from the nose. A rhum from the year in which production from sugar cane juice was officially permitted for the first time in Mauritius. Won't be available for much longer. Unfortunately (even at the distillery) at a price that hurts. So you should definitely taste the rhum before you buy it.

Unfortunately, it's not more than mediocre First of all, thanks for introducing the rums from Mauritius Gunnar. For me, it's better on the nose than on the palate. It seems a little thin and doesn't last long. Unfortunately, I have to say that I'm a little disappointed. For the price that is being asked, there are far better rums from Mauritius that were included in the package for cheaper money. This whisky finish also ruins things.

Interesting pot-still Agricole with lots of power. Unfortunately terribly overpriced, so it probably won't be drunk by many. Second tasting. This time blind. Nice rum, but overall too little character and edges.

I was really curious to taste this St.Aubin. On the nose, all kinds of exotic fruits like papaya, mango, nectarine, also something sweet-floral, which might be most comparable to the Domaine de Courcelles bottlings. On the palate, a nice spiciness combined with coffee, caramel, fruit, and malt. On the finish, hints of barrel and banana. The rather low ABV fits very well here and emphasizes the mild character. I have to say, I really like it! Many thanks for the sample to Berlin!

This bottling has almost the classic notes of an agricole, except for the cinnamon and vanilla flavors on the palate. It is a little too light for me and the sugar cane is too dominant

The thing that I caught right away was the design of the bottle. I really liked that they put some effort into it and that it stands on "two feet". The nose is very fruity with wood and some vanilla. The palate is sweet takes off right away with wood, fruit and spices trailed by sugarcane. The finish is medium long and lightly dry with smoky wood, spices and fruits. Price to quality is so-so.

The nose is pretty inviting, vanilla, wood, caramel, some spices and dried fruits. On the palate there are no fruits at all and it tastes like an average molasses based rum with some additional notes. Not bad but not great eather. The finish is a bit too rough and alcoholic keeping the 45% in mind.

On the nose it has something of a matured Agricole, or maybe a somewhat lighter Armagnac. On the palate quite pleasant, also somewhat towards Agricole, with aromas of baked apple with some raisins, light spice and cinnamon. Almost a bit like a liquid apple strudel. The finish is rather short. Very relaxed and tasty easy sipper, great baked apple aroma. Still not a benchmark.

Interesting profile that despite the high age feels relatively young and evokes associations of a Willi combined with agricole notes. However, at least 10% ABV is missing to reach higher spheres, price-performance ratio is also rather poor.

The rum shows on the nose with a complex mix of oak, roasted almonds, and dried fruits. On the palate, a rounded, typical Agricole profile unfolds. The sweetness of sugarcane, vanilla sugar, and tonka bean is accompanied by hazelnuts, cinnamon, and cocoa; dried fruits add extra depth. A rum with great balance that pleasantly showcases the Agricole profile.

Color: golden brown amber Smell: Old, ripe and balanced Smells sweet of dark ripe fruits, very ripe banana, mango and papaya as well as caramel. Taste: Sweet and oily in the mouth, also spicy with caramel. When swallowing medicinal, herbal and spicy with toffee. Aftertaste: Medium length, bitter and spicy-sharp. Resinous, medicinal, woody. Conclusion: Unfortunately I don't like it very much. The wood influence is too strong for me. 80 points

Very tasty, for me one of the most exciting rums from Saint Aubin after I've been able to try a lot. Lots of wood, yet fruit and more behind it. Just unfortunately a bit expensive.

Blind tasting. I immediately thought of whisky. Cereals, malt, yellow fruit. On the palate, it was the same. For me, it was a whisky. I don't know what it's due to, as I don't know St Aubin. Whisky cask or distillery style? In the end, it's really not my thing.
