The surprise here: it drinks more like a fine cognac than a Martinique agricole, with the grass tucked way back. Expect elegant oak, orange peel, sugarcane and yellow fruit, with cinnamon and cocoa on the palate. Several tasters love the nose but find the mouth quieter — enjoyable, well-balanced, just missing a bit of punch at 42%.

25.09.2026 - 28.09.2026 Attending the Whisky Live in Paris 2026 with a few good friends. We had a great time and it was nice to introduce them to this event which was a first for them. ------ RETASTING ------ Compared to the second release this one lack a bit. It is of course a younger model, but it can still keep up I think. Lightly woody with fruits from nose to finish. Lovely spices appear on the palate and finish nicely balanced with chocolate and caramel/toffee. There is a flowery hint i there and a medicinal hint i can't put my finger on. Price to quality is very good.

The first sip actually pleased me quite a bit, the nose is also very promising. But after letting it sit a bit, it developed a certain bitterness at the back, at least for me, which I don’t like. Otherwise a solid bottling.

Nice Bally Essence! Dirty, spicy and heavy but also delicate, floral and mineral. Very tasty and complex, a few % more and it would probably be an absolute blast! I like it a bit better than batch 2!

A very beautiful blend from J. Bally. The nose is very fruity, halfway between dried fruits, citrus, and exotic fruits. The sugarcane, wood, and spices give the rum a nice aromatic balance and a certain liveliness. A promising rum on the olfactory level. The attack on the palate is more bitter and alcoholic. You find the spices, wood, nuts, and cocoa, accompanied by fruits (much more in the background) and sugarcane. It is a balanced and well-crafted ensemble. However, it lacks the vigor of the nose to be at the same level. The finish is darker, dry, woody, earthy, and vegetal. You find some dried fruits and citrus in the background. The profile is more in the spirit of the house. A quality and well-structured rum, but the nose remains a notch above the rest. The quality/price ratio of the batch is very good.

Relaxed agricole, though not very exciting. A bit weak on the nose, but it develops quite nicely with roasted dark notes, the finish adds grassy notes. A bit weak on the chest.

Surprisingly complex Bally, which might have deserved a few more percent for even higher honors. Heavy sweetness, dark fruit, bitter notes reminding me of dark chocolate and coffee. Very nice!

Not as bad as first time I tried, a small upgrade in evaluation thanks to orange notes, that I love in agricole. Still the nose is a bit weak, but overall the rum is enjoyable

Wow, what a nose! The aromatic palette is very wide, ranging from fruity and floral from the garden to a buttery and brioche-like treat, excellent. And above all, it's balanced and makes you want more! Regarding the taste, this rum maybe lacks a bit of power, so the aromatic palette is less extensive than on the nose. Concretely, the fruits and flowers are less present, and on the contrary, the wood dominates more. So we have something a bit less subtle and elegant. That said, it remains very pleasant.

One of my first tastings at Whisky Live Paris 2026. A very nice balance for this version of the Art Deco. The oak is present but doesn't overpower everything. The palate is darker than the nose suggested. Very cool

Nose: somewhat light, dark cherry, plum, honey, grain, a bit of grass, almonds. Palate: raspberry, berries in general on the tip of the tongue, apricot, plum, grain (sweet oats); nutmeg and tobacco on the finish, alcohol well integrated, but flavors could be more intense.

08/03/2026: Brussels Rhum Festival @ Tour & Taxis. Way more fruity compared to the 7yo core range release. Probably due to the influence of ex-Cognac barrels. For me, pretty similar to the Art Deco #2. Very tasty stuff.

A pleasant rum on the nose and leaves a pleasant taste on a long finish. Unfortunately, I find the palate below par. Pleasant nose, not very intense but interesting. Quite fresh with fruit (apricot for me), notes of cane and a bit of bitterness (I first think caramel then wood). Quite lively at the attack, rather spicy before the yellow fruits take over and give way to the bitterness of the cask; a bit disappointing compared to the nose and finish unfortunately. A long and pleasant finish.

A rum with an interesting length and beautiful complexity. A very promising fruity nose that is found on the palate. The palate presents a bitterness marked by notes of dark chocolate, and tropical fruit notes appear. A very good rum!

It is not a typical agricole from Martinique. The grass is hidden and fine. Vanilla comes out of the barrel easily. very tuned blend. will also taste molasses rum lovers.

Very tasty Agricole, somewhat less intense than the older Ballys with higher ABV RX 1149 (Bally 1998: 59%) and RX943 (Bally 1999: 54%). Woody, fresh and peppery. Lime rounds it off. Perfect sunny Sunday afternoon.

This is more cognac than rum in many ways, aged and light, with complexity and light charm. A bit lacklustre to shine. The finish is medium short, leather, spice and some vegetal. Fresh mouth, orange, sugarcane and easy. The mouth is pear with wood and leather. Drinks lighter than the ABV. Solid but not special
